hello guys and girls I’m new to the tacoma world. I've always wanted a pick up but could never find one I could afford with most options I wanted already built in, less I need to install after market. I will be looking through the site about skid plates and other goodies.

anyway to the point. First let me apologize because I’m sure this is already on the site, just can’t find much on topic and I’m problem putting the thread in the wrong spot and need to learn how the site works.

I have a new 2017 TRD OFF-ROAD i have tooling off road small to test featured items and have fun in the mud, I noticed the gears shifting quick probably to save gas lower rpms, my question is: is everyone is talking about putting in parts to change the way the gears shift would that shorten engine life as I want this to last me 200,000 miles lol I personal see what they mean but I don’t see the problem with throttle response every vehicle I owed has always hesitated when punching gas peddle so I guess I’m asking what everyone is talking about is this a problem? or just personal preference that many may not like? Is it normal for the hill assist or craw features to sound so bad with I’m thinking abs system doing its job it just sound like hell and sounds like everything is breaking lol? And I’s it bad to use ect power mode often? Thanks for all ur help and input on what’s up with all the problems with gear shifting talk and again sorry for putting this in wrong spot I’m sure while I get used to web site. Sincerely Robert

    Welcome to the forum.
    Holy run-on sentence.

There is a technical service bulletin (TSB) about the shifting on the early 3rd gen Tacomas. I'm sure someone else here will be able to provide a link to it. Your Toyota service center can look at that, and service it if it needs attention. You shouldn't be attempting to resolve it yourself in my opinion. Get it to a service center for them to investigate. It will last you 200,000 miles.

Crawl control being loud / sounding terrible is normal. It' uses rapid control of the brakes to brake each wheel independently, and this is the reason for the sound.

Check your manual to see if ETC being used often is going to harm anything. I doubt it will. You will most likely get worse fuel mileage though.

Have fun with your new Taco!
