I have a few Sherpa jumps on my log as well. And yes I agree that thing was bumpy on a smooth day.

Man, those ARNG Sherpas at Fort Rich were really nice. I enjoyed those jumps better than my single CH47 jump.

This didn't happen to me but a buddy of mine who ended up getting medical retired amongst other issues. He came to us as a Leg did a deployment: The Surge back in 07-08 and then came back and went to Airborbe school. He came back so motivated to have his airborne wings and loved it. First jump in Division- fractured his femur and was never fit enough to jump again. A couple years later he ended up getting out.

Last jump was in Hondo in 88. I was an Aviation CW3 flying RC-12G aircraft. An old 509th buddy from Italy was an SF team sergeant and wanted me to jump with them. Had not jumped in over ten years. I ended up jumping a ratty ass Hondo T-10 and tailgated a US CH-47. What a ball! It was my final military jump lucky #225.

During my jump career I missed the DZ once and only used my reserve once. Master Parachutist Badge, German and Honduran Jump Wings. Ranger Tab and French Commando Badge.

    nah T11

While the steerables are nice, I rarely go and seek one out. Just happy with a seat, good weather, and a functioning aircraft.

besides, they want me to run through the simulator before jumping it here.

Yeah there is a silly simulator that some posts make you do before riding an MC-6. Wholly unnecessary, but whatever. It is loosely resulted to the fallout from that assclown full bird burning in a couple years back at Bragg, and also that they may not jump steerable shit in the basic airborne course anymore. Before the T11 went full fielding, at least one jump out of the 5 at Benning was an MC1-1B.

That’s sounds weird. When did you go to airborne school. I don’t remember them ever having students jump the -1

Hmm... I think we did one jump in JAN 91 with the -1B also. I know I jumped it in the Ranger Course immediately after Airborne.

Yeah, I think it was part of the curriculum back then. Funny thing is I didn't jump the thing again until my third assignment. Was supposed to do it during PLDC in 94?, but we had ceiling issues. PCSed to Vicenza an then back to Bragg and was jumping the -1 during the practice jump for one of the AA Week competitions, and I'm like WTF am I supposed to do with these toggles when I get close to the ground.

That is awesome. In 2002 they didn’t even tell you the army had steerable chutes. When I was an instructor they never let student jump them. Of course this is also when they were trying to make students wear ankle braces to protest the ankles. Only problem with that is the people that were hurting their ankles because they didn’t pay attention starting hurting their knees.
