This scumbag and his accomplice attempted to either break in to my Tacoma or steal it yesterday while I was parked at the Monroe Truck Trail trailhead on Glendora Mountain Road in Glendora.

After returning from a MTB ride and heading home I received the hood ajar warning. A quick inspection revealed that the hood sensor wire had been broken AND one of the horns was unplugged. They must have hooked them through the grille and yanked on them since the horn bracket was bent out.

This tripped the alarm and after a couple of minutes they got back into their vehicle and moved down the lot presumably to another vehicle.

All this was caught by my Thinkware F770. Unfortunately they crouched in front of the truck so the front camera did not get a clear image of them actually trying to disable the alarm.

Being a push button start vehicle I wouldn't think these are easy to steal so my guess is they wanted to break in to steal something.

Did you file a police report? You might be able to zoom in on the plate number

Maddening for sure. Looks like the POS may be carrying a code scanner in his right hand. I walked up to someone in the past standing suspiciously close to my car and he ran away when I approached him.
He was holding something similar in his hand. My car failed to open afterwards with my keyfob remote, which was the way the alarm was designed. (lockout until key gets entered in lock).

In any case, glad everything is mostly ok with your truck. Could have been worse.

You go to police? Trying to chase the plate number?

If you didn't call the LEO with your great footage, you're certainly wasting your time here showing us.

Your data may help them get these little opportunists stopped.

    Sorry for your troubles.

Seriously you got their tag...just enlarge it. The blurrier it is the more you enlarge it. I've obtained tag #'s off worse images.

Make copies for police. Your tech nailed these bastards.

    here ya go

    http://www.sgvtribune.com/2016/03/17/stolen-suv-traced-to-glendora-leads-to-12-arrests/

report these pricks. While law enforcement wont do anything directly for you the info and video you give them WILL help. Case in point. I live in San Diego and there was a rash of clothes thefts from clothes drying lines in backyards along the coast... no one though anything of it... some homeless guy needed some cloths or so they thought. What was actually happening was the cartels were smuggling bad guys into the US and in an attempt to "blend in" while they were in transit they had to look like they were from here.

Yes definitely go to the police with this. They probably already have a partial description of these (alledged) thieves. But those are great images. I'll have to take a look at that dashcam setup.

I have contacted the Glendora PD. While the plate was not completely clear I took a guess, plugged it into an online plate search and it came back as a black Kia Sportage. The GPD now has all they need for future reference.

    Bingo...that's definantly a Kia.

Law enforcement will want the original image so that they can apply filters to enhance the image.

I can't believe Pete Wentz drives a Kia...
