    A bit surprised there haven't been any yet. They're popular trucks and have no shortage of known frame issues. Certainly there would be a market. Many folks would rather spend a decent chunk and fix their rig than get a new one.

    I dig that article. I guess that's the process involved with the repair. I didn't even know they had shops/offered service. If I had the money, I wouldn't be against driving there and having them do it. Got a buddy in MA I could visit anyway. But financially, it's probably best to order the DIY and pay someone nearby to do any cutting and welding.

    Interesting site. I'll have to do some more searching. It has 4 and 6 cylinder split, as well as PreRunners and 4x4s. I could definitely be mistaken, but don't all 1st gen frames from the same time span have the same frames?

    Rear brakes, ya? I ought to do mine. I think they are original still...or at least I don't recall seeing a service record for them.

    D'S rear. Panic stop on highway. Truck stopped well for having 35s. Just didn't want to stop afterwards. :D

    Did you cut the backing plates off or press the bearing off to remove them?
    And did you actually pull the console to back off on the parking brake cables or did you leave it as is?

    Cut, it's easy. Unless you want to redo your bearings while you have the axles out. I did the DMZ extended brake lines since I had to bleed anyway. Took the bed off and worked like a gentleman.

    Edit: By the way, Tom's customer service is top notch. He went out of his way to help me in a few instances.

    Know of anyone that makes extended parking brake cables? I tweaked the mounts to get some slack at full droop, but I doubt they will be long enough when I LT the rear. Figuring I will end up at about 18" of travel

    @stairgod

    Check this out. The install is the same except the Tacomas parking brake is less complex and doesn't require the bracket. The Tacoma parking brake cables are symmetrical as well.
