i have a 98 5vze with 200k on it. Started having high idle issues. Cleaned then replaced iac with no change. Read a thread about worn shafts. While idling I can pull out on shaft and the idle drops to normal. So i shim it with a washer and now everything is back to normal.

I am thinking about a better longterm fix than the washer. Anyone have any luck with a shop boring and using bronze bushings to get the TB shaft to seal up? I am thinking about just looking for a replacement TB and hoping it doesnt have the same issue.

There is a guy on here who had his TB rebuilt by a shop (in Florida iirc), they made a new custom sized valve plate and shaft for it to fix a high idle, did a really nice job.
Not that helpful, but I know it's been done. I'll look around and see if I can find the thread.
