Bought this 2002 4wd Step Side month ago for $8,000. Had 180k miles, no rust, frame undercoated and checked by Toyota, 3" lift, inside and outside perfect.

Hello, first time on here although I do read the 4-runner forum. Lots of good info on these forums. Okay, my question, been looking for a cheap truck, preferably Toyota. So I found a 1996 2wd, automatic, 4 cylinder. Just what I wanted. But it's got 300,000 mi. on it. The owner says he can drive it 5000 mi. and not add any oil, although he says it has a small oil leak somewhere in the front, crank seal probably. Saw pictures, body looks good and he said the frame was good.

I have a 2004 4-runner with 212,000 mi. on it, no problems, but 300,000? He's asking $1800 for it, so I figure he'll take $1500. I'm a decent mechanic, I could rebuild the motor if need be. I still don't want to pay to much though, so what's your all's opinion? I wouldn't be putting a lot of miles on it, just need a truck.

1999 3.4L TRD, bought it in 2004 from my dad for $14000. It had 55,000 miles then and it has 318,000 now and it still drives like a new truck. I've probably put at least the purchase price into maintenance.

Looks great. Only thing I can see is door handles not matching (chrome vs black). most likely a sign of an accident, and the body shop replacing the door with a similair model but different colour handles.

Unless it's just the lighting, in which case, ignore this comment :p

I've had 3 first gens in my life so far.

First was a 3.4 95 Xtracab LX I inherited from my uncle who passed away. The second was a white 98 2.4 Xtracab SR5 146k miles I got on craigslist for $4600 (Great condition almost perfect besides a small dent on the rear passenger side), and another one thats also a 98 2.4 SR5 but green with 135k miles in almost perfect condition (only 1 owner) for 4900 at a dealer.

All fair deals in my book for how great they were in condition. Haha I tend to prefer the smaller trucks with the more conservative 2.4 engine as I already have two 3.4 4runners for heavy towing.

I'll play, bought my 2000 in January 2015 with 121,000 miles, 4 cylinder, automatic, 4wd, extra cab, SR5, I ended up paying 11,500 for mine. Very clean, the interior is perfect, exterior a few scuffs and rock chips, and a lot of service records from the original owner.
