just had 10,000,, service and my cooper 275/70/17's rotated. about 6000 miles on them. left dealer got on highway and bad shimmy in wheel between 45-60 mph.... took to tire shop, they checked balance and rebalanced them , even tho they looked ok,, test drove same thing,,, unrotated and smooth as can be,, they said one of the tires must have some kind of defect,, guess they are staying the way they are till i get rid of them.. fist coopers ive had trouble with..

6k miles in 20 days? That also sucks about the shimmy issue. I'd have a shop with a road force balancer take a turn getting them right.

Just replaced my 265 75 16 C load at3s with 255 85 16 E st maxx. Got 65,000 miles out of the at3s. Pretty damn impressed with that number. Mostly pavement driving, but a good bit of rocky trails, light mud and gravel roads in the backwoods of PA and WV. Ended up replacing not because of wear, but at 6.5 years of age they were starting to crack from rot pretty deep around the beads. One tire did wear poorly on the shoulder but that was more of a recurring toe issue - noticed the dry rot and cracks during my last rotation.

As others have said, very good tire, in all conditions. Never had any lack of confidence in rain or snow. And tracked straight and true, even with toe misalignment. They were a bit of a challenge to get balanced when new, but I eventually got there.

I liked them so much a friend out them on his tacoma and 4runner, but opted for the p-rated tire and only saw 1/2-2/3 the mileage I gotout of mine.

Pretty much in line with what I noticed. Thanks for the additional info for the thread.

Since I have a Limited with factory 18s, the a/t3 only come in SL and E1 loads. I'm looking to get a set of 265/60/18. I won't haul any loads heavier than the stock suspension and frame can handle. 90% of driving will be road/highway with weekend trips camping and hiking, no crazy rock climbing or anything. I originally thought there would be a great variance in tire weight, but they're pretty similar. So should I get the SL or E1 tires? Your review mentions crappy wear, but the low road noise would be nice. If the E rating is quiet, I think it would be an easy decision for me.

I would go with the E. I didn't notice any additional road noise over the SL. I'm pretty sure the set of E's on my work Tacoma will make 50,000 before I decide to replace them.

Any loss in MPG or the "feel" of power? They're 11 pounds heavier than the SL.

Hard to tell on that truck. The previous tires were E load Duratracs that were heavily worn, so I don't have much to compare them to.

I lost about 1 mpg when I went to Cooper 265/70-17 116 load ATW's. They are about 5 pounds heaver than the stock Bridgestones.

First THANKS to Ranger & all of the other contributors to this thread.

Just got my first set of new tires for 15 Tacoma. 265/75/16 Cooper AT3 E load... largely based on the info here.
Only had them for a little bit, but so far very happy.
Did get to take them out to the beach, being 1"wider wanted to see how they did... not radically different, but they did seem to do much better when turning out of the existing tire tracks in the sand.

I did notice my mileage seemed to go down approx 10% (on highway run to & from beach... was 20.5'ish to 18.5'ish). But approximately 1/2 of that "decrease" seems to be due tire size change, as the speedometer would read 60 & the GPS would show 57 (a 5% variance), whereas now the speedometer & the GPS are exactly in line...

Once again Thanks for all of the input. :)

    Lots to come
My girl and I run the cooper at/3 on our Tacomas( both 285/70-17). I also had a set on my dodge(315/70-17). Excellent for Washington roads.

I'd start off at 32 and lower it from there.

I had some Standard Load AT3's that I just got rid of. I would say that 85% of my driving is on logging roads. After 20k miles, much of the tread was gone and I was sick of fixing flats, so I got rid of them. If I never left the pavement, they would probably still have plenty of tread left, but if you’re off the pavement very much, just stay away from the Standard Load AT3's. Below is a recent photo at just under 20k miles.

So, it sounds like the consensus is LT C load...avoid p-rated.

Thanks to OP and all contributors.

I'm pretty much narrowed down to these and p-rated Falken Wildpeak AT3/Ws...upsizing from 215/70R15 to 235/75R15 on our '07 4 banger 2wd...l'm leaning towards the Coopers for LT C rated as those aren't available in the Falken size we need... Mostly (95%+) highway/city and some Baja off-road. Mainly don't want punctures in the boonies...

Any feedback from those who have run the Coopers and the Falkens?
