Reliability of the 1GR-FE V6?

    Own a 2015 TRD Sport LB 4.0 V6 with 30K miles. Always use synthetic oil and change at 5K intervals per the maintenance recommendations. Mine has the valve tick for which I've read on this site that there is no explanation for and Toyota says is normal. I'm wondering if any current and previous owners have had problems with their engine that affects longevity? Thx AJ

    Only thing I’ve seen is 2006 model year with excessive head gasket issues, though Toyota is ignoring that.

    my 07 and 09 V6 had the tick and never had a problem. sold the 07 around 160K and the 09 is at around 180K now.

    362,000 miles later on mine, nothing major has failed, just maintenance

    225,000 on mine. No problems at all,just normal maintenance

    2015 TRD sport here too 29k and has the (normal) tick. I use mobil1 at 5k intervals too. No problems so far.

    Have a buddy with an 07 has the tick noise too. I think it's around 212k on his. Its a solid engine.
