    As little as possible.

But seriously. You don't even tell us were you live, and prices vary by market.

I think there is a thread called 'what are you paying for your '18?' That should get you going.

    Welcome to TW!

I found that calling around to different dealers helped a lot in determing how much I was willing to pay.

Also KKB and truecar.com were super helpful.

    Good luck OP!

Thanks folks, sorry for the lack of etiquette, in the MD, DC, VA area. Not much data on the TW 2018 link. I've been told I'll get "invoice" according to Toyota's build sheet on their website the truck msrp is 38+ and I've be quoted 36+. In addition to that they are offering 12k on a 2002 xtra cab v6 trd w/ 160k.

    Thanks for the responses!

Negotiate w/o a trade first. Always. Cash and carry so to speak. Have your best financing (if needed) already approved. You can share the rate if needed, but not the amount.

Dealers always give a nice number on the trade, but not taking enough off the new one. When you get the new price right, the trade will drop.

It's often not hard to sell private party for enough to cover the sales tax delta + $1k or so over what the 'real' numbers look like on a trade in deal.

Invoice, manuf. hold back, etc etc are all available with various internet tools. Seek them out and be an informed buyer.

Use the internet to your advantage. Email 20 dealers with your requirements and see what happens. So what if you have to go a couple hundred miles to save some real money? Your local dealer still has to honor the warranty work if needed.

    Good luck with shopping!

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice! I will do just what you suggest. The deal I quoted is in rural PA, 3.5 hrs from where I live. I tried 3 dealers near me. I will continue to pursue with the advice.

    Thanks!

I’m in mid hudson region of NY and also looking. If I got that deal I would have bought already. I’m looking at a 2018 Double Cab TRD off-road Short bed with premium tech. My offers so far was invoice of $41 and quote of $39k.

They only offered $3,500 for my 02 v6 xtra cab TRD with 190k. They rebuilt it last year. New frame, breaks break lines, gas lines, gas tank and sending unit, power steering ram and lines. New radiator and water pump. Exhaust is 2 years old. Truck is in great shape for 16 years old

Jdstg58, I will let you know if any of the offers pan out... I'm currently thinking it's too good to be true based on a friend of mine who has access to Toyota Corporation inventory software that shows there's no truck that matches what I am looking for within 500 miles of me, who knows?
