As I was putting up christmas decorations. I started wondering if it was possible to put in rope lighting in the bed powered by the AC outlet and hopefully switched (of course you could plug and unplug).

Also wondered why we don't have an AC outlet in the cab and if it was possible to put on in.

Of course you can plug it into the bed outlet. And there was a thread somewhere about someone installing an outlet in the cab of a 2nd gen. Let me see if I can find it.

I put an outlet in the cab. I just tapped into the wires that run from the inverter to the rear outlet. Those wires are tiny though and weren't easy to tap into.

It worked fine in my FJ, and I plan on doing it again with my tacoma.
The limited wattage while running is fine for a single string of standard lights, if inagine LEDs would work better.

I would have expected an 'alien' to have both known the answer and even created a better solution. Being they are so much smarter than we mere humans and all. :D

I'll be rocking some Christmas lights in the bed in the next couple of days. :bananadance: Time to get in the holiday spirit!

Does anyone know if 4 strands of LED lights (400 leds) will remain On during Drive when plugged into the bed outlet?

The bed outlet will light up all 400 old fashioned lights but only while parked. When in drive it only has enough juice for 100.

I got three strands of leds and they power up fine but I'm now wondering if I'm at too much risk of getting pulled over. I'm sort of new to NC and don't know if cops here care. I know down in Atlanta you would likely not get pulled over.
