    K&N? Haven't heard of K and M

Just do a deck plate mod, cheaper and probably same result unless you like the look

I wouldn't touch an air intake other than stock, but that's my opinion based on the cost of gained horsepower.

Unless you have a boosted motor it's worthless. Unless you're down for louder intake noises for $200

The problem with an oiled filter like a K&N is that the Mass Airflow sensor on these trucks gets coated with the oil and crap that gets past the filter. This affects the ECU's perception of how much air is getting into the engine, and it adjusts fuel levels to compensate. The usual outcome is loss of MPG and/or a check engine light for a faulty mass airflow sensor.

The other problem is that the cold air intake is not drawing in cold air anymore than the stock intake is. At least with the stock setup it has a short snorkel that is drawing air from under the fender, whereas the K&N is in an open box under the hood.

So no, there will not be a huge difference in performance, and it'll probably end up causing problems down the road.

I switched over to a K&N a year ago and have not noticed any performance increase. Theoretically there is but I can’t measure it. I do like not having to change out the air filter and think if you’re going to have the truck for a while it’s worth it.

I bought the parts to do a deck plate mod but never got around to it

Looks good to the Mall Crawler crowd !!

One real problem I have found is that in a narrow temperature band they tend to freeze when it snows

this is from around 34 degrees to about 25 at my best guess once colder things tend to be fine .

Nothing worse then being halfway through a big drift and the engine dies from no air

The under temps will melt things in a few minutes.

That was my first and last cone filter adventure

Not to bash K&N but it's absolutely junk. From the cross support bar from the engine head to the intake tube having a getto rigged hose clamp around the tube, to having to put a weird foam ring around the maf sensor, to also losing gas economy, to hearing the old lady cuss about the sucking sound. There's also that crappy metal shield around the filter that heats up unlike plastic does! Elbow mod is best fwiw and for looks an airaid tube from the airbox to the throttle body! You're truck already brings in cold air, k&n sucks up tons o' dirt and hot air=junk. If you really want cold fresh air buy a snorkel, better you waste money on that, it really works.

Not recommended for boosted apps bud, adds more knock and ping ask Gadget! Need a tune to make it correct afr. Gadget got better dyno numbers with elbow mod and stock intake too much resonance at idle.

Boosted apps should be tuned period. To take advantage of an intake and exhaust more gains with boost Bud.
