This is the problem I am having right now. My dilemma is I'm running slightly larger tires than stock (265/70/17) on my 2016 trd sport. I have the extended warranty for my truck (lucky me) so I'm going to have both the front wheel bearings replaced. Do you guys think Toyota will honor the warranty with larger tires on my truck or should I dig the stock ones up from the basement and roll into Toyota with stock wheels and tires? And 3 inch lift but that shouldnt affect wheel bearings.

Dealers will use just about any excuse to deny a warranty claim. Aftermarket anything is one of their favorites. I can't guarantee that they'll deny your claim with aftermarket wheels & tires, but if it were me, I'd go back with as stock of a truck as I could.

Drivers side wheel bearing went out on mine right at 125k. Little noise turned to big noise and tightness in the steering wheel real quick. When they go they go quick and 50-100 miles after you think to yourself “I think I have a bad bearing” it becomes hard to control the truck. It’s a pretty easy fix really. I did passenger side as well while I had all the tools out.

So its probably worth it to dig the stock wheels and tires out of the basement I guess. I guess we will see how Elgin Toyota plays ball with their warranty claims. Thanks everyone

How much bigger are we talking? Do you have a relationship with the dealer? It seems to me like they could decide to no cover it, but probably would in most cases to keep customers happy. Toyota knows damn good and well what people do with their trucks. Only reason I see them saying no is dealership is cheapskates and figures you won’t be a repeat customer.

At the end of the day the dealership will make some money no matter what. Warranty work is negotiated at discounted dealer service rates. But your average dealership makes as much or more on service as they do actually selling new vehicles. So it would behoove them to cover it and make a repeat (happy) customer.

not much bigger at all. I went from 31" tires to 32" tires and a 3 inch lift. Not a huge jump but I have a feeling the wheel bearing is going based on the sounds Im hearing (I havent jacked up the truck yet to confirm). Ill let you guys know how it goes when I take it in to get checked out.
