Ordered a diff breather kit from yotashop.com, screwed in the union, went nice and smooth but never gets to the point where it starts to tighten down.

Now I try to put back the oem breather and it won't screw in at all.

    Wtf, please help

Did you crossthread and ruin the thread on the differential

Also, pics and part numbers you used would help. I did this mod a few weeks ago and it went smoothly.

I made sure to not cross thread it, I was able to screw it in easily by hand but it doesn't get to the point where it gets tight... figured was a cheap part so I took it out and now the oem one doesn't go in

I know when I did mine, it doesn’t screw in all the way but it’s tight. Do you have the part number you used?

Mine didn't even get tight, the union just kept spinning, I didn't even have to use a socket or wrench

After you screwed it in by hand did you tighten with a tool and it became loose? OR was it simply loose by hand the entire time? I just cant see the threads getting messed up by hand tightening only but I can see it getting fucked up if you hand tightened then torqued it down with a wrench too hard.

Edit: or it was crossthreaded from factory?

I did mine with some teflon tape - just snug it up don't tighten till it starts spinning and you'll be ok.

I just screwed it in by hand and it was loose the entire time, I hope it wasn't crossthreaded from factory. That would put me in a shitty situation!

I bought the kit from that website. I used Teflon tape and tightened until it got very difficult. I think the parts are fine from there.

I used the union and got some tubing from lows and ran that into my storage box, secured the tubing with 550 cord and used the factory plug to cap it off and its held up for 3 years now.

I bought the kit because I think I saw you link it under the mod thread, I used teflon tape to prevent it from seizing over time but that didn't seem to help me out in this case

I would try putting enough Teflon tape that it gets difficult to screw, then tighten. Once you add the hose with a hose clamp, it shouldn’t be able to turn and would stay in place ok. That is assuming the threads are at least grabbing enough that it won’t pull straight out.

Yeah the threads are grabbing enough to were it doesn't just slide in and out, I might give that a go and see if it gets snug.

Anyone have input on reasons not to tack to union I got from yota shop to the diff if all else fails?
