I’m a newbie here so, excuse my ignorance ha. I have a 2001 single cab 5lug truck. Anyway, I am up for some new tires and I think I am going to change my setup. I have 18” Scion wheels on currently. They are 8” wheels I believe with whatever offset (+/-) I’m not sure. They stick too much inside the fender wells for my liking and I was wondering which offset (+/-) is needed to get them farther out. I’ve also heard rear wheel drive vehicles normally have a better offset but I’m not sure if that is accurate or not. Any information would be great bc I am a newbie. Thanks for looking.

Mustang wheels are a fairly common sight for street Tacos. My buddy has a 98 with 17x8 et30 Cobra replicas and they fit really well under the fender (which has the factory fender lip deals). So I'd start there, but yeah a FWD wheel is typically a higher offset usually around 45-55mm. Spacers can also be a decent solution to get that additional 15-25mm if you still want to run your Scion wheels.

Look at late model Ford Ranger rims - not 100% sure on fitment compatibility for 1st gen Tacoma's, but worth considering - the stats appear to be more in line with what you might be looking for at +12 offset, vs +40 (for 15") or +30 (for 16") OEM rims.

Okay, thanks for responses. I’m looking to o a different OEM route other than the scion wheels. I get bored easily and hope I can find some OEM cheap somewhere. I can cut them myself. We own a machine shop. I’ve seen many people running the Cobra Rs and mustang wheels. Any other recommendations you guys can think of?

Mid 2000's Dodge Challenger, early 2000's Jeep JK/Wrangler rims are also pretty much bolt on, but relatively high +offset also.
