    I plan on fashioning a tie down on my light bar and mounting it near the rear of the bed. I hadn't thought of car washes though!

    Yeah! And ideally I'd still want about a 6" spring to give it as close to an exact 1/4 wave as possible.

    Great. I have to drive Molly out to Weston Saturday night for a family dinner :annoyed:

    I have mine on a medium duty spring and when I need to get in a garage or whatever, I pull the antenna off the spring. I keep a crescent wrench in the center console for these instances.

    I run mine with a quick disconnect - there is no need for it in the city or daily use so it's off unless I'm doing highway driving. I only leave it on for highway driving to get updates from the local truck drivers calling out warnings or traffic. I drive into the city almost every weekend. If I leave it on it will slap off the ceiling of parking garages (the ones I can actually fit in).
