    Have your front tires rebalanced.

I had the same shudder during braking and thought it was rotors. It turned out to be a balance issue in both front wheels.

What feels like (and is often misdiagnosed as) a warped rotor is actually just a surface condition on the rotor causing inconsistent friction when you brake. Read more about it here: http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/-warped-brake-disc-and-other-myths

FWIW, I had a similar problem as you with ~15k miles. I don't drive the truck hard and don't ride the brakes, and never had this problem with the dozen or so previous vehicles I've owned (including two other Toyota trucks). Dealer agreed to replace the pads and resurface the rotors as a goodwill warranty item. 20k later it was happening again. I'll be looking at a good aftermarket rotor with my next brake job, or going this route instead: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...t-oem-parts-part-s-provided-installed.443656/

    Good luck.

Yeah, you're supposed to be able to go 50,000 miles before you need a brake job, with normal, easy driving. I'm feeling butt hurt at 27,000 miles. It's come to light recently that the Japanese steel manufacturer who supplies steel to companies like Toyota was exposed for selling dirty steel. The components were subpar. Basically, your Toyota is made from ghetto steel. And so my problematic rotors may just be the tip of the iceberg.

I have the same issue now, on my RC 5Lug
It was way worse after tire rotation.
I am going to add air PSI and re balance the tires, then see how that works
before tearing into rotors & pads.

You can’t warp these rotors unless you get them glowing red on the regular then cool them irregularly. It could be early symptoms of a bad wheel bearing. Rotor is fixed to the hub assembly and the caliper is mounted to the spindle. That could explain the shudder. It would generate uneven pressure as the wheel wobbles, and would get worse as the brake pad deposits material unevenly onto the surface of the rotor.

They resurfaced the rotors and installed new brake pads under warranty. Works great. Very satisfied with Toyota.
