Thread resurrection. Can anyone confirm if the 3rd gen 16" offroad wheels will fit around the stock brakes on a 2001 (3rd gen) 4runner?

Just be sure to use the correct lug nuts for the wheels.

You want to make sure you're using alloy lugs for alloy wheels, steel lugs will chew the wheels up. If you buy the wheels then ask for the lugs also.

No idea what your 03 lugs are made of but the 3rd gen wheel lugs are the same thread pitch.

Do you have a 4 wheel drive? I think the 2 wheel drives were 5 lug instead of 6.

Are you trying to buy new lugs or wondering if the lugs that come with the OEM OR wheels will fit? If it's the OEM wheel lugs they will fit a prerunner or 4X4 1st gen.

Mine is extended cab 4x4 it's not the sr5 or trd. Bolt pattern looks the same but the lugs from the 15 Inch tires apparently don't fit on the 16" tires off the 2017 trd offroad

Since I don't know what type of lug nut you have on your 1st gen you're going to need a flat seat alloy lug like the type shown here to work with the 3rd gen OR wheel. pure-4runner-lugnut-PTR20-89150.jpg

Tire size is different but the "Wheels" will bolt right up if your truck has 6 Lugs.

    Thanks Jason,

Apparently i had "acorn" style lugs on my old tires, these are definitely what I'm looking for. The only thing I couldn't get a straight answer out of the dealership on was whether I needed the longer or shorter stem for where you use the torque wrench.

They fit perfectly on my '98.

I have rubbing at absolute full steering lock but that's because I'm using much larger tires than stock (BFG KO2 LT265/75R16) I only notice it when you're turning sharp or parking.

    IMG_6371.jpg IMG_5817.jpg

BTW - The 3rd Gen Lug Nuts have the same thread pitch so they'll fit fine. I'm even using the 3rd Gen Wheel Locks. Difference between the wheels really is the back spacing. I'm also running AISIN Manual Hubs and Tundra 13WL Calipers and they both clear no issue.
