Tacoma- 16" method nv, but some plans are forming thanks to TW. Bronco- 11" lift, 38x15.50, want to diesel motor/driveline
I looked for an answer to my question but didn't see it, if it's out there and I didn't see it by all means let me know. Anyway I'm new to both TW and to the yota life, however I'm not new to the lifted and aftermarket life.

I recently decided that the warranty wasn't too necessary for me and I'm looking at the bds 6" but the website is saying that I should run an 18" or 20" wheel. I'm not into the "cookie cutter" 35x12.50 on 20x14 american forces (if you are that's cool but not for me), so now that I think I covered everything my actual question is can I run the 6" on 35x12.50x 15" or 16" wheel?

Also my secondary question is how realistically bad is the 6" bds without the coil overs? I understand that the more you spend on the lift=the better ride, if your planning on barking up that tree relax I know where your heading which is why I'm looking at the bds and not a rough country. Even if I had a virtually bottomless budget I just can't justify or imagine spending 3500 on a lift alone. Sorry for the long post just haven't had much luck on the research.

appreciate the link what rim sizes? I've heard some chevy's not being able to run 15's cause they rub on the control arms, is it the same as the 3rd gen? Again if this answer is somewhere I missed sorry.

You can't run 15's on our trucks from what I believe. Brakes and Calipers are to big.

gotcha so do you think it really matters what size the rim is as long as it's bigger than a 15? I'm trying to stay as small of rim as I can, the whole 2-3 inches of tire from the rim just doesn't seem functional as much as is all looks.

16" or 17" will work fine.

BDS wants you to mount 35x12.5 on either 18s or 20s with 4.5" backspace to work with their redesigned geometry.

    I doubt you'll find a 35x12.5R16.
35x12.5R17 is available and should work, unless 18s are required to clear the suspension.

I recommend you stick with an LT flotation and avoid LT metric whatever size wheel you do end up with. The proper load rating for a LT inflation is 29-31 psi. The proper load rating for a LT metric falls way off the charts and just isn't attainable.

Before I did my 8" on my bronco I was looking at 35x12.50x16s, they are a high demand tire but there's still a good selection in both MT and AT.

Not intending to rub anyone raw, this is why I'm asking these questions cause there's not a whole lot of info out there and I can't be the only one questioning these specs

Thinking back, I don't think I've seen anyone with a drop bracket lift running anything under 18" wheels. Ignoring the lift for a minute, I will say that you need a minimum of a 16" wheel to clear our brake calipers. I believe the reason drop bracket lifts require a larger rim is for suspension clearance. Most drop bracket lifts such as BDS replace the factory spindles with much larger units. I can't imagine a smaller diameter rim with higher backspacing (i.e. positive offset or more rim width) clearing the spindles or the stock control arms.

Regarding your second question, I haven't ever owned a bracket lifted vehicle, but I can't imagine it riding better than stock, even with the coil overs. That said, the nature of the strut spacers and geometry differences that the bracket lift creates should minimize negative effects vs. a regular spacer lift.

I appreciate the answer definitely useful, I'm sure with time this off the wall info will be more common with time, but someone has to ask

Got another question, is there a serious need to get a longer driveshaft with a 6" lift or can I get away with not getting one? My bronco doesn't necessarily need a longer one on an 8" but it couldn't hurt.
