Look at the silver 4 door 1st gen he built. Finished it and took it to the hammers with no sliders, no bumpers and no skids and beat the crap out of it lol.

Maybe the guy worked his ass off to get where he is and afford to do stupid shit. Not sure why the general consensus is that everyone is poor. But whatever, I'm over here with my 85 stoked on my new 3" front leafs :woot:

    Maybe, probably not, but maybe.

My point was, I don’t really care how he paid for it as long as he uses it on something other than a dirt road

I'm making some pretty big sweeping generalizations about the credit thing so I really don't mean to offend those that do build responsibly. It's just relatively common to see for sale posts that mention paying off debt, etc.

There's a lot of that on every car/truck forum imaginable lol

I also pay cash for my hobbies. In order to build the truck I had to sell a bunch of stuff including a few guitars from my collection (another hobby lol) and a bunch of other crap. Something's gotta give but it was the only way to do it without getting in debt. Was also able to sell everything I removed from the truck as well, which helped a great deal.
Another thing that helps is to go in stages. It's just too dangerous doing everything at once :D

1997 t4r has super duty axles, 5.13s locked front and rear. 3 link front with 14" kings. Rear 63s.

Buying things here and there to get a big parts pile before I cut anything. Next purchase will be the fj case. Then a steering box then links/brackets. Shocks will be the last thing I order just because how much they are.

So back to tech talk. Since I have the leafs apart and losing some uptravel I'm trying to find better bump stops so they aren't so harsh. What's everyone's using. Air bumps are out due to money and would be riding on them constantly. Currently just have some round junkyard ones. Was looking at the daystar stingers but don't know if they are worth the cost.

Air bumps are 100% worth the money. I'm riding on them on the street and you notice it for the first week or so. Off-road they are badass, I thought it was all bling hype, but they are for sure not. I'm probably going to toss some on the rear eventually. Downside, besides cost, is they are a bitch to find a place for them. I have a friend who's running the daystars and he likes them, but is going to switch to air bumps. I have fox 2.0s 2" that I got from accutune off-road. I sucked it up and got them because I would constantly be in them and didn't want to be knocking my teeth out on poly on every bump on the street.

I have another friend who made his own daystars out of pipe, a big ass bolt and kong dog toys, all built for less than $100bucks that work pretty good.

also running air bumps and i also live on them other than a little clack when they first make contact they are smooth as hell got a set for the rear as well but haven't had time to put them on. i picked up FOA's for the 2.0's with a can it's 150 per. So 300 for the set it's honestly not bad at all.

The other nice part about sitting on them, or close to it, is on the street they act like a sway bar.

Glad ori has internal bumps. But I will run a set of straps because @allenfab brought up a good case. What if the shock fails and pulls apart? Nothing keeping it together
