I bought a 1700psi Ryobi this year for doing the concrete at the house. It did it, but holy shit was it slow. Driving down the street I found a busted old honda 3000psi with a free sign. Took it home, fired right up but had no pressure. Replaced the valves with newer technology and it is far better at cleaning concrete than the little ryobi, but I don't think I would use it on my truck even with a wide nozzle. Different tools for different jobs unfortunately

Did you get the cannon from the Chemical Guys? Which one did you go with?

I went with this cheap little bastard. My only gripe is the black adjuster nozzle up front is a bit loose, so I need to take it off and wrap some electrical tape around something in there to firm it back up.

If you want something a little nicer, here's the CG one.

So what is the biggest benefit of the cannon. Does it really make a bigger difference over the "old school" soapy water and mitt wash?

    Not really. Here's my system:
    • Pressure wash truck to get loose stuff off
    • Use foam cannon while giggling like a school girl
    • Use mitt and bucket of plain water to wash the truck, rinsing the mitt as I go
    • Pressure wash everything off
It saves maybe 5 minutes, but it's 100x more fun and oddly satisfying.

I'm doing that Saturday! Can't wait.

I love that video. Saw it at the gym one morning around 5:30am and could not stop laughing. Everyone kept giving me strange looks which made me laugh even more.

I have this one. Got it as a Christmas present and thought it wasn't all the great before using it. Works very well for what it is!
Washes all the KY clay/silt/mysterious talcum powder crap off with a couple overall sprays (I should wash it more often and it wouldn't take so much effort). I stripped a decade+ old wood picnic table of stain and paint in less than an hour. And cleaned up 20 year old concrete sidewalk with it too. The pressure adjustment is how close you are to something, though.
And the jug thingy is junk. Nozzle blew out of it my first use, I feel the foam cannon isn't what it's hyped to be anyway.

Yikes. Spend the extra $8 and get the one I bought from Home Depot.

Do you have trouble with that design tipping over?

It's done it once or twice, but only because the hose feeding it was stubborn. It doesn't have a big footprint, though. I see why you'd ask this.

So I decided on this one. It seems to have good reviews and be powerful enough to get the job done and still leave paint on the truck. The brand is a good one and Home Depot is usually really easy to deal with if something doesn't go right. Plus it leaves me some money to get him something else.

The foam cannon seems like a nice treat (looks cool to have everything soapy) but I will hold off on that for now. His birthday is in February so I need to keep some options for then.
