navigation map update

Guessing you haven't had a chance to work on it, or had any luck...

I am wondering it too has anyone tried to do this i did download the garmin app but didn't do anything yet was wanting to find out if it will work

I find Google Maps is more accurate than that new map update, navigational SIM card that I put in. For example I want to go from Chandler, down to Thomas and it wants me to take all these side streets and everything.

I'm like what the hell? Okay that ain't even a fast route, it's just not accurate...

 

I got an update last week (not maps) and that software update site from Toyota was dated March. Give me a break.
I'll look at my msd card and see if it can be cloned, I have not yet seen anything that can't be copied.
Nothing. But given how crappy Toyota maps are it's probably not worth the effort. Google on my iphone is better.

 

ya google maps is way better. can anyone post on here and tell us if the updated sd card map they purchased from an actual dealer, is working better for them??

 

Its a shame that we can't put google maps on there a hacking of sorts let us be in control of what we want to use LOL

 

Because toyota sucks with all the integrated bullshit. etune etc...

 

Does anyone know if I can buy an Ebay nav SD Card for my 2017 Tacoma Double Cab TRD off road 4x4 truck....? I see on some of the ebay sites that it asks for me to put in this info (my year, type, double cab, gas, 6cyl) and then tells me that the 86271 OE184 is not compatible with my truck???? Doesnt sound right.. Would much appreciate any help

It's almost exactly like mine. 1 number higher.
I tried to make a exact copy but there is some kind of subtle copy protection on it.
The Toyota reader might be reading the 3d bar code on the back.

 

This is probably no longer relevant, but I just got a notice from Toyota that I could bring my Tacoma in for a map update....they didn't quote a price or tell me how long it would take ...I looked online and it appears that I can do it myself already having several Garmin items but I haven't tried it yet .. here's the link https://toyota.garmin.com/toyota/ I may give it a try

So, I have a 2013 Tacoma Base 4wd...does this model have the SD card for updating the navigation system? I can't find it. It does have the USB down below, which I used to update the software. How do I update the nav system?

 

I bought a 2014 toyota tacoma sport and it did not have a map sd card at all in the vehicle...

Dealer quoted me 160$ for this damn thing, anyway around this and go cheaper route and buy it used from ebay or other source?

I didn't have factory nav to begin with, but I bought a headunit with Android Auto/ Apple Car Play and it's awesome. I switch between Google Maps and Waze.

Will this guy work it is OE183? Its not the latest but the last one before it. I just want the navigation to work since I never had it
