I have only had experience with ARB. Their lockers are top notch and they have a lot of authorized dealers and installers, which would make things easier if a warranty or customer service issue was to arise. They are also very good with email correspondence and you can almost hear their accents while reading emails from customer service reps.

TJM makes fine stuff. It's not common for Tacomas but they are more common within Cruiser and Prado (our GX460 and GX470) circles. I've had several ARB & OME parts that are also well made. I don't know that either is better or worse on any technical points (cosmetics aside, which are personal).

But ARB has an established U.S. dealer network and good customer service out in Washington. I don't know the extent of North American support of TJM, that would be the main reason I'd go with ARB. I've had nothing but good experiences dealing with them both before and after the sale.

Does anyone know if ARB's claim that their bumpers work with stock airbags and if so is there a lot of rewring or other mods to make it all work?

Well I haven't tested it but that was one of the reasons I liked it. I didn't have to re-wire anything with my 2nd gen.

I'm a big ARB fanboy, but have always liked TJM's offerings, especially their low-profile snorkels. That 4Runner snorkel looks like their 100/200-series snorkels - which are really understated and aesthetically pleasing IMO, especially when color-matched.

IIRC, TJM no longer has a US distributor, not 100% about that though. I know Slee offers some of their product line, but seem to stock TJM products in batches (as product must be shipped from Aus). They seem to be in the same boat as Kaymar; well-engineered and built products, but not offered in the US with any regularity.

All it means is that they paid for proper bumper testing and because of that cost there bumper is “airbag certified” and also more money.

should be, one of the reasons why they dont put d ring mounts on them as well so its maintains its crumple zones.

ive stuck with arb due to their customer service and also their air locker has served me very well.

    ;)

If you can readily obtain TJM products I would consider them. ARB is carried by LOTS of companies. Why not offer some variety?

An ARB bumper lasted through 2 Tacos, well built. They have an accordion fold replaceable mount connector that can absorb some energy from a sharp hit, to prevent airbag firing.

Ordered a TJM front bumper and fogs...fogs ordered somewhere around 11/4, was told they were in stock and would ship. Then was told they changed warehouses and would ship 11/26. Then was told they are on a shipping container from Australia but they don't know when it will ship, maybe sometime in January. Very frustrating experience from a customer standpoint.
