I guess I'll survive with my stock grille for now till there's more concrete info. The fact my current grille is now black helps the pain lol.

I read through the tss radar recalibration instructions pdf, it looks like when the sensor is calibrated it goes through a learning cycle to set it's alignment in a parallel axis to the flat ground surface. There are 3 types of radar installation points, sr5 (A) sport and off road grilles (B) and pro grilles (C) Moving a sensor that has been calibrated at version A or B to the version C location (just moving the sensor down a few inches) probably has no ill effect, as what the alignment most cares about is 0 rotation on the up\down in relation to the flat ground.
It certainly wouldn't hurt to recalibrate the sensor, but the pro grille was designed with this system and allows a consistent attachment point in relation to the other grilles and the truck's level. I'm going to be trying this myself here in a few weeks to see how well it works.
Now if you went with an aftermarket grille and attached the sensor to a point that wasn't centered or perfectly level to the ground like the oem grilles, or you had an obscene lift in the front or rear only (tilting the truck's front\back end up or down out of the factory ratios) then you most definitely would want to run the calibration.
It is possible that there is a height ratio between the camera and calibrated radar sensor height as they work in tandem, but we won't know until either Toyota releases some tech docs on how this system actually works, or people just try this and report it works fine in the real world. The pre-collision will turn itself off if it senses something is wrong with the system, so if you try this and don't get any lights or menu warnings there's a good chance it's working fine and is happy, we'll see.

The dealership said the part number was the same from the 2017-2018. But now I am thinking that is wrong. The grill on that pro is definitely different. The dealership is being really cool about it. I think they are still learning about the 18s and TSS stuff as well.

I did get an intermittent warning light. They adjusted it. I think the warning may be intermittent still. I am thinking that this is not the correct grill for this truck, even though some Toyota information indicated it will work on the 18. I thought it was weird that the grill they removed had unobstructed glass looking Toyota emblem, while the pro had no such protection.

Yes I added my own plexiglass and it honestly works great it looks way better than OEM the only downfall would be having to take it apart if it got really dirty but take it apart would only take about 20 minutes I was going to do a Tutorial but I got too excited about the grill and just put it on . I’m traveling right now but once I get back to my truck I’ll get some pictures for you guys and and explain how the process works .

Thanks Ken, look forward to it. From what I can tell the 2017 grill already had the mount for the sensor and on previous models it just sat there empty. I have just placed my deposit on my 2018 cement OR. Hoping to swap the grill as soon as it arrives. Also considering getting the OR wheels painted or powdercoated (perhaps the the silver machined portions).

Yes, I'm anxious for a report as well b/c the dealership isn't helping, or even willing to help. All they would say is that Toyota is telling them not to alter the trucks b/c it will affect how all the TSS-P works. I have a deposit down on an '18 Cement as well. Should be in end of the month or possibly mid January. I want to put the Pro grill on and an aftermarket bumper.

When is someone going to start an '18 build thread?

Well I already have a lot of stuff from my last truck (2016 taco) that was totaled recently. But it’s an overland style build which fits my needs perfectly. The canopy is coming in about 2 weeks.

Nice. That should make it lighter on the pocket book. Any plans to install a Fab Fours front bumper? :D

I need to do a full suspension make over to account for the weight I’ve got on it already. Full skids, slider, full front runner roof racks. But someday rear swing out high cleanrance bumper. And probably a slimline front bumper

So plans changed, Going to have to cancel my order. Found a DCSB 18' TRD OR 4x4 w/tech in cement and with a manual transmission in stock at a dealer up north! Went for a scenic drive yesterday, 5hrs but totally worth it. Going it for even cheaper then the one I ordered. Paid invoice -$750 college rebate, so I was happy! Glad to be part of the cement family now :)
