I've considered listing my base Taco, but..... Besides the cost, I really really like that fact that this rides so nice and has no issues with the ride and suspension. It would really piss me off if I spent a lot of money and time fighting the dreaded vib and other issues many see after a lift. I've much enjoyed it since new for now 5+ years. Perhaps if I keep it until it needs to be towed to the crusher I'd do it before It really dies and use it for a mudder.

I've got a plan, next truck will be petty tall from the factory. Take a read and point out the flaws in my logic before I clue my wife in and she does it for me. After the first of the year, I plan to get a beater car. Small, 4 cylinder, stick shift that can easily get 30 mpg or better. Goal is to spend as little as possible, $2,500 or less and looking at early 2000 era civics and accords. I might have to hit up RRG and McFly for advice on things to look for with the older Hondas. Next year, the Ferd is getting traded. I've had my eye on a 3/4 ton but the fuel economy is horrendous if you get a gas model and the initial cost and maintenance of a diesel isn't financially feasible. The truck would basically just be a trailer hauler and for me on the weekends, the plan is to keep it to under 7-8,000 miles a year and put the rest on the beater. The F150 only gets 8-10 mpg towing so that won't be any different with a 3/4 ton gasser.

The reason for the HD truck is, I had an eye opening realization. The Ferd is legally overloaded or very close to it towing my little ass trailer. Manufacturers are boasting ridiculous tow figures that the truck's payload can't support. Mine has a 1,500# payload and an 8,000# tow rating. Cap is 200, dog is 100, kids, wife and I are 400 and I have about a 650# tongue weight. Truck has plenty of power to pull the weight but, god forbid I get into an accident and someone runs the math and finds out I'm overloaded, I'm screwed. We're also looking at slightly larger trailers with a 7-800# tongue weight.

    That's the plan, sound legit?

That's my plan, but to keep the Taco since its paid. But another truck will have to wait a while. Maybe after my next raise

    @Pugga ,

just my 2 cents, I’ve had my tdi for about 8 years now. It’s an 06 (pre-emissions bullshit) and it’s been awesome. I get 45mpg consistently and aside from brakes and oil changes it hasn’t given me any trouble. I know they’re not for everyone.

I put about 80 miles on it daily. It’s never let me down. Plus the diesel is very “torquie” making it fun to drive with the manual.

Didn’t get the creeper, just used some cardboard instead. Install went smoothly. Ran the wires along the backup camera wires through the tailgate and under the truck, brought it inside on the passenger side, under the seat, tapped into the wires and BAM! Good to go!

Hoping my dad has a creeper. Wants me to possibly replace the starter on his truck. Just snowed last night, and it's only 25° outside.

I need a new creeper, the one I got from Amazon was used like four times and broke. Wheels won't stay attached. I liked it though because it also became a seat

    That the z creeper?

    https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Lift-C-2036D-Grey-Z-Creeper-Seat/dp/B00826OVWW

I have it. It works pretty well. The problem I have with it is it starts to bug my should blades after a while as they end up on the metal frame and not the pad, but it is nice that it folds into a seat

When I get a new one I’ll probably get one like this so it’s lower and the tool trays look nice

    as a former NYer....
I always say SW CT is for the NYC B class. Folks who don't quite make it in NYC.
NYC A live in Larchmont, Scarsdale, Armonk, or the CT Gold Coast (SE CT).
    When you're looking at property taxes of $30k for a 1/4 acre vs. $5k for a 1/2 acre, $5,000/mo rent v. $1200/mo rent....
Being a NYC A was fun, but being a NYC B ("NY wantabe") with a soul FTW (IMO).

That's okay, we don't want to be here either, just not ready for Palm Trees quite yet.
...and we do want your type here - you make for interesting conversations. J/K!
Actually we need the natives around to teach us country ways - burning leaves, no heat until Thanksgiving, proper shoes & tires = less shoveling..... All the foreign concepts to a NYCer.
(still don't have the guts to actually own a burn barrel - LOL)
I have friends from The Bronx living in northern New Milford - I always tell them they live in Canada. :canada:

You have an easy reading writing style. Nice piece.
LOL, like many of the comments - I looked at the photo & thought - Rebecca's lift arrived!
(and the guy who said you can't do brake work on it doesn't know what he's talking about.)

So, are you saying that I am "NYC B Class"?
I'm a native here so what do you mean?
Oh, and I have no desire "to make it in NYC". Have,t been there maybe once in the last 40 years.
