This is a factory defect, and has become systemic problem among many Toyota Tocoma owners. I talked with my dealer and Toyota HQ about this today, and they acted as if this was an isolated incident. I need the link for the petition. Toyota needs to make this right

    Welcome to TW!

Someone else might have a link to the TSB, but the free replacement period ended a little while ago.

Thanks, welcome appreciated. Yea, I’m probably a little late, but I firmly believe this should have been a recall. I joined TW following this topic, and now a little overwhelmed at how huge this is- considering I’ve never been on any forum before. Thanks again!

Heck I took my 2010 into the dealership for this in 2013 and they told me the headlight is a “trim” piece not covered. Bastards.

I picked up my 09 back in July and have the same melted DRL, I agree with ya on that Toyota should make it right regardless of timing......

My 09 DRLs were replaced by the dealership no problem but that was like 5 years ago

Heard that it may be hit or miss with dealerships if they honor it or not. Tried calling Finday Toyota here in Vegas and after they did some research, discovered it was 70k miles or 5 years. I have a 2011, with 103k miles, so I was over by a little bit on both sides. Don't have the money to buy new assemblies, and headlights aren't high on my wishlist, so I will just live with it until I get around to changing them.

This was NOT a TSB, but an "extended/enhanced warranty". I received a letter in 2015, and had no problem getting both headlights replaced, BUT there was an expiration date. If you were the original owner, or Toyota was notified of change of ownership you should have gotten the same letter.

Yea, I’m second owner, therefore I believe that is why I wasn’t contacted - as my dealer didn’t have record of me owning the vehicle. Anyway, same deal. I’ll wait out a little longer before getting new ones, but they do look like hell... See you are Vegas. I was in Boulder for a business trip (during SEMA), had a great time. Good luck with your headlights! They are expensive. I’ll be ticked at Toyota for a while
