Hi all, new here so thanks for your patience and help!

I've done a bit of searching but haven't found anything that fits my situation yet: I'm trying to help my dad fix a '95 2.7 tacoma he recently bought. It has a very frequent misfire between about 2000-4000 rpms, but it runs normal when you let off the gas (even if the tach still reads a higher rpm). Sometime the misfire starts lower, like 1800. Plugs, wires, and coil are all new so I'm guessing the previous owner had this issue and tried to fix it but couldn't!

No engine codes using the OBD port or the paperclip method.

Per one recommendation, I put fuel cleaner in it and ran 2 tanks of premium gas through it but it definitely hasn't made a difference. Willing to try more fuel treatment but it's kind of a pain in the ass to drive as is. Another recommendation was the EGR, and the third guy, who was really good and just spent 3 hours testing stuff, thinks our best bet is to replace the injectors (1995 was pre-ethanol, could that have gummed them up somehow?). He also said possibly the distributor, but injectors made more sense since the misfire seems to go away at high rpms.

If anyone has any experience with anything like this, or an opinion about injector or distributor replacement or EGR repair, please let me know! Everything is stock in the truck, and from another thread I found these injectors as a possible replacement: https://www.ebay.com/itm/252684160875

Unfortunately the truck is at my dad's so I can't go out and look at things, but I might be able to answer questions.

check compression on the pistons. Might have a valve guide leak or head gasket and or rings leaking.

Hey, thanks for the idea! Compression is good on all cylinders.

My 3.4 had a stumble that was not helped by new plugs, coils or wires...New injectors did the trick, smooth running ever since.

Ok great, thanks for the feedback. I feel better investing the time and money in it knowing it could possibly work.
