Solved! - Identifying Plumbing Fittings for Water Tank for my Rig

I have purchased a 12-gallon tank I plan to use for holding water in my DIY truck-bed camp kitchen. I am basically plumbing myself a faucet pull-out that will slide out from under the cook-top. The basic plan is this:

1. 12-gallon tank - Purchased (Specs PDF here)
2. ??? elbow ??? (I only have about 2 inches of room below the tank) - Need!
3. shut-off valve (for peace of mind) - Will Order
4. diverter valve (for emptying the tank) - Purchased

All of this uses

What I'm having trouble with is finding a connection that uses "3/4 standard fitting" that connects to the tank to a 3/8" barbed fitting in an elbow. I confess, I don't know a lot about plumbing fittings, but after several rounds of Google-Fu™ I've come to the following assumptions: The connection at the bottom of the tank is a Tank Bulkhead fitting with a 3/4 FNPT fitting, so I would need a 3/4" MNPT elbow that has 3/8" barbed fitting. I've not been able to find such a unicorn in the wild. So, any ideas on what series of fittings I would need to achieve this? I have the limitation of having everything rated for potable water: NSF-61.

It feels like this should be an easy task, but I've yet to find something suitable. Any help is appreciated.

Try looking for an npt reducer 3/4 male to 1/2 female. You should be able to find a 1/2" mnpt to 3/8 male barb fitting then.

Also as an FYI, it's ok to run a plastic mnpt into a metal fnpt but not the other way around, a metal tapered male fitting will split a tapered plastic female fitting.

 

You can get a 3/4 pvc 90 glue on one side and 3/4 female threads on the other. Then a 3/4 glue x 3/8 threaded pvc bushing. Then a brass 3/8 male thread x 3/8 bard. Then go to your hose the rest of the way.

 

Tractor supply has a lot of fittings for holding tanks. I had to go there to get a fitting that went from tank to garden hose. I didnt have competent help at the store but they did have the fitting I needed, just had to look around a bit to get the right one.

 

So THIS is what a unicorn looks like!
