Those are crap because of the little plug valve at the top, which I prefer to call a leak-hole. I have a smaller model like that I tried. Useless.

I have two of these (same brand), I think they are great.

They don't show it there, but the large cap houses a reversible spigot, and the valve is far better. I just leave the spigot facing out and stow the jug handle up in transit. When needed, just rotate the jug down 90 degrees, very nice, large valve with gravity feed. I keep one in the trailer, and a backup in the truck.

See next to the fridge here:

Only problem with the aqua-tainer is the threading on the plastic valve doesn’t like a monkey grip...

Also, don’t leave em filled to the brim on a cold desert night (because thermodynamics and stuff). They only expand soo much before cracking.

Those green ones suck donkey balls.

Got to do truck stuff with my truck yesterday...

Mom called and said a big Oak limb came down in her yard, with another limb hung up..

    A38F848B-71F7-4C6E-AA22-4CB090B69FA8.jpg

So I did what any good son would do... skilled out of cleaning house for the day, loaded up the kids, wife n dog, headed up to her place.

Got to put it in 4lo to wheel over to the tree.

Got to use my winch, a snatch block and couple of straps to drop the hanging limb. (Sorry no pics! It was epic!)

Got to run my beloved Stihl for a few hours.

And got to give mom a nice big stack of Oak for next season’s firewood.

All in all it was a lovely Saturday!

I have one of these, used it all last Summer with no complaints. Like others have said, the plug at the top leaks minimally, but who cares unless you have your bed packed with gremlins or some shit. If you and your stuff are not allergic to a little water, they work just fine.

They're not all that stable which is the reason I don't care for it. Plus, the vent helps you pour but if the thing falls over and the vent comes out, it's gonna leak a good bit of water before you notice-that would suck in a place like DV.
