I don't know why, but I think this is kinda cool. This lady in Superior, Wi (across the bridge from me in Duluth) made a blanket marking the high temperature for each day. Each temperature range was a different color. It's an interesting view of our typical weather throughout the year.

summoning @DCLBFTW i am thinking of finally taking the plunge on a lift. Will you be free anytime to help install it? I was going to
get the bilstein 6112/5160 kit from rogue offroad:

    http://www.rogue-offroad.com/product-p/kss2t140-tacoma.htm

then also OME dakars. Not sure if I should get heavy duty tho. the heavy duty is for if you have a constant 600 lbs. I have the topper which must be a few hundred, and I want to get a steel bumper later this year too.... cant decide on one yet tho. I want a high clearance once which I know will add a bunch of weight, plus I was thinking a swing out. cant find one i want tho because i want one that has a removable swing out, sensor cut outs, and offers powder coat. one i was looking looked awesome but didnt offer powder coating. i like @Pelfreybilt the best yet for whatever reason they don't offer a swing out on the 3rd gen bumper.

anyways, what do you think? just standard dakars for now? upgrade later when i really need to?

is there anything else I need to buy? brackets, u joint flip kit @wildfyr3 meantioned. When I got a quote from 4wheelparts there was all these random little things and something about a muffler bracket.

Also do I need to get the shocks assembled or something? I saw the OME kit offered assembling it for $100 but that wasn't offered on the bilsteins.

I'll let Chris speak for himself, but I know he had said he was going to try and cut back on personal work.

Definitely get the HD Dakars. Aaron recently got the standard Dakars and regrets it. I bought the standard All-Pros and regretted it. Especially if you're even thinking of getting a swingout. Plus rake on a truck looks baller.

I'd also order bare and get it powdercoated locally. That's another lesson I learned the hard way.

If you're doing leafs, then yes, do the u-bolt flip at that time. Easy and cheap.

Wheelers Offroad is my favorite dealer.

someone else from an over landing group im in is gonna do the install. so no worries on chris cutting back. a guy from rogue off road said to get the standard dakars tho, said it gives too much lift when its unloaded. so i dunno. polling some people on a facebook group on the standard vs heavy duty.

@Pelfreybilt I decided against the swing out. I placed an order for the hi clearance 3rd gen bumper just 30 min ago.

do you have any suggestions for me for protecting the cut area? i live in MN, lots of salt on the roads in winter so rust is a concern of course.

Twin tire carrier? So i won't have to put one under the truck.

Paint (can even be primer) because we provide stripping to cover that area after the cut.

Just a single tire and mounting for another attachment.

Just moved here from SLC, UT - a lot less tacoma's overall than in UT that's for sure. Looking for any insider info on good 4x4 shops, trails to hit, places to camp (once it warms up of course) etc... Very unfamiliar with the area so any info is helpful! Thanks!
