IMG_2143.jpg Hey everyone I installed fox 2.5 extended coilovers with reservoirs last night. With the suspension hanging I loosened set screw on the locking collar sprayed kroil oil on the threads and tried to spin them to no avail. I tried a punch which bent and a grade 8 bolt which turned the collar maybe half a turn and then it started bending and the spring itself started turning. I read on here and other places online that I need to remove them place them in a coil compressor adjust and check height and repeat as necessary. That seems kind of ridiculous to me. Any help would be appreciated

Tried the same as you and ended up with same result. Didn't want to risk damage to the adjuster. Ended up pulling them and bringing to a shop for adjustment. Doesn't take that long to remove and reinstall.

You could try grinding down a cotter pin puller for adjustments.

I had no problem with WD40, spray vaseline and 8 mm punch. I assume you have loosened the small hexagonal screw enough (don’t take it completely off).

@mwc273 i didn't buy the spanner because I read multiple people saying they couldn't get the spanner to work and how they kept hitting the UCA 's and to just use the punch method.

    Not buy.
Totally useless tool, I tried, but not managed to do anything with it.

8 mm punch is the right tool.

So you don’t need a spring compressor with the 2.5?

For an overhauling yes, but not for the adjustment.
