Ford used to own controlling interest in Land Rover and Jaguar. I wonder if they may have had something to do with its design? At any rate, I'd be more comfortable with a Land Rover/Jaguar design than the Fiat design that Dodge uses.

VM Motori builds the 3.0L Ecodiesel in the Chrysler products. Not saying it's better or worse than the LR/Jag design, just pointing it out.

I'd be interested, when it comes time for a full size. It seems Ford saw Dodge cornering the market. A good friend of mine got the Dodge EcoDiesel. The truck has been great to him, he gets almost 30 MPG and it runs really quiet. On top of that, he was able to get a 4 door, 4x4 truck for 34K (sure he doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but good deal nonetheless).

I was reading about how the 10 speed works and the only 2 situation it will hit all 10 gears is under full throttle and under MPG testing, otherwise it is suppose to shift the least amount to stay efficient.

Nice, however that doesn't make sense to me. I would think that it would shift more to stay in that efficient rpm range. There are a few folks on the New England BS thread that talk about how much these trannies shift.

In the end it won't matter anyways, we will all end up in some computer controlled electric ride in a matter of time.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Im not saying this isnt true, but how can Dodge sell a full size, double cab, 4x4, with diesel for 34k? I just dont see how the math checks out.

Well, a few things to keep in mind. Its a double cab but not the mega cab, so its not the biggest model. It is 4x4, and diesel, but its the Ecodiesel and just a 1500. It's towing capacity is not any higher than a regular 1500 truck. On top of that, when I said without bells and whistles, I mean it is the absolute base model. He got no additional options lol. Basically the work truck type model.

When you take all that into account, it makes more sense. Base model 1500 Silverado truck start around 38k here for 4x4, and Dodge trucks often run cheaper (in this area).
