It's behind the a pillar, you need to remove the pillar it to see where it is.

Just did this, with the exception of a minor ding on the body around the antenna mount all went well. I had to drill mine out and even after the nut was removed, the upper and lower antenna mount pieces were so corroded together I had to pry them apart with a screw driver from inside the body panel...thus resulting in the ding. I thought I could get by with 3 new clips...false. I need to buy all new fender clips, several more black clips and figure out a solution for why my mudflap screws are no longer tight. Oh well, my scan now picks up 54 stations instead of 17. Thanks OP!

Hi everyone! This was helpful; fiance was looking just for a couple of the parts and found out Amazon sells them as well as eBay. He only needs the antenna "ornament" or bezel (86392-04040) and the antenna nut or "bezel" (86396-04040). Found them both on Amazon for about $29. Might order it for him and hopefully, he doesn't need the rest on the list, but will write them all down just in case!

Yep, this write up is solid. I bought the parts from the dealer and that was $$ enough. (115$) 2-3 hrs of labor (it only took me about an hour) and it wouldn't have been worth doing. Thanks for writing these things down!

That bezel nut isn't some inverse thread is it? Mine is on super tight. I have no corrosion, my antenna broke off down in the bezel.

Nope it's a regular thread. Mine didn't have any visible surface corrosion but I found it with a grinder...

I’ve replaced many of these antennas working at the collision center and I haven’t run into a single Tacoma yet that’s a few years old where the antenna just came off easy. Including my truck I usually have to take a belt sander to the antenna nut.

Thanks for a great write up! I was replacing my fender liners already so I wanted to tackle this while they were out. Much easier than expected, scariest part is drilling out the old antenna nut. After that I got it done in no time.

Over GVWR and I keep adding more metal
Serious Question: Does anyone know the name and whereabouts of the "engineer" responsible for designing the antenna bezel assembly? Correct answer wins a trip with me to (I'm guessing) Japan.

After a recent wheeling flop, I have to replace my right fender, door, and access door. Got new body parts and assumed that swapping out my guts into the replacement parts would be easy. It was, wiring, speakers, doors, interior panels, windows, seatbelts... All done with a screwdriver and quarter inch drive. BUT, that damn bezel was the death of me! Half my day was chewed up trying to salvage my existing part.

Guess it's time for a replacement. Anyone have success stories of an underdash antenna? If not, OEM.

    Thanks all!
