simply leave a key in the ignition after turning it. Not ideal.

I do not believe the transmission is designed to have the output shaft turn without the front shaft turning, this leads to the output starving for oil.

Most people flat tow little 4x4 like samurais or jeep's due to the "true transfercase neutral" with oil pump on the output shaft.

Bishop84 Thanks for the reply. Leaving the key in the ignition may be my best option but I hope not.

I am installing a driveshaft disconnect which will prevent the output shaft from turning. Over the years I have towed many Jeeps without problems. The Jeep transfer case has a true neutral position. My Taco is a 2WD with AT and that's the reason for the d/s disco
