New guy from Fayetteville NC here. I am shopping for a 2018 SR5 V6 4X2 access cab. Can anyone explain the Southeast Toyota Distributor fee for $56.65 and the Southeast Toyota Administrative fee of $904? Dealer said they are non-negotiable. I figure everything is.

    Thank you,

    Mike

    Thanks for the reply,

If I have to, I will purchase in Virginia or any other state not in this Distributorship territory.

Tell them since that isn't negotiable you'd like to negotiate the price of the truck by 904.

I’m in the SE region, and do not have any of those crooked fees on my paperwork from a week ago

Welcome to the forum! Every dealer and region have some type of fees that they say are fixed, just tell them fine but take $1000 off the price or give me $1000 extra on my trade or bye bye!

Kind of what I thought. Will dealers negotiate less than invoice?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Deals will depend on lots of things such as availability, options, time of the month, incentives from the manufacturer. Go in with lots of information on pricing from True Car, Edmonds, Costco and know what you want and how much you are willing to pay before you walk in the door. The more you know the less they can bluff, also I went through the dealers internet sales department and there was no BS.

Quick answer, yes. Invoice isn't necessarily what Toyota pays for the truck. They still get kickbacks and incentives. Also depends how desperate they are to sell. If they sell their tacos well it will be harder to negotiate. But if you can get paper another dealership willing to do certain price it gives them a little butt kick.

Those are the fees your local distributor charges.... Southeast Toyota is I believe one of two large 5 state distributors. They distribute all of the Toyotas in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and North and South Carolina. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't have to go out of those states to get the fee dropped.

Oh, the other one is Gulf States Toyota, which covers Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas.

    Good luck.

Contact 25 different dealerships via email telling them what truck you want.... tell them the requirements, tell them what you are flexible on, and don't go in until they give you an out the door price and you are ready to buy. Then use the responses to pit the dealerships against each other for the best deal.

This won't work if you don't have a trade in and you probably need your financing ready before you do this.

    Thanks,

Trying to get this done before the end of month. Toyota is offering 0% financing for 48 mos.

Two weeks is plenty of time to do this. It's all via email. If some don't respond, you won't buy from them. Plenty will.

Do not finance through the dealership. Go in with financing from your bank. Negotiate an out the door cash price. I did that with mine, walked out 3 times before they gave me the price I wanted.

Be careful. That almost always means you are paying more for the vehicle than you could.

You don't really think they are tossing around free money do you?

Get prequalifed elsewhere, don't bring a trade in, negotiate your very best cash and carry deal. In writing.

It's a shell and pea game. You have to remove 2 of their shells. Financing and trade in. If you leave those on the table you'll never know what you are really paying for the vehicle. Other than 'too much'

I am prepared to do either. Why not take advantage of an interest free loan?

Are there any 2017's left? The 2018's are a new release and so are at a premium.

Always deal with at least two or more dealers and let them know it to,you will eventually get what price/pymt you want.

I agree, I will negotiate the price first in writing and then talk financing and trade in as necessary.

    Thanks,

    Mike
