They are bolt on, yes. But do require drilling. Was about a 1-hour install with two people.

Wow, we totally flaked on this build thread. Sorry guys! It's been insanely busy here at the shop and it's really hard to keep on the forums.
We replaced the Leitner ACS rack with an Alu-Cab Explorer canopy and put the tent and awning back on that until the Khaya goes on. BIG NEWS there - we just got it about a week ago and have been prepping to install it next week. We went with a +800 lb. leaf pack from OME that is actually for the HiLux but bolts right in not he Tacoma. We also added a Firestone air bag kit to accommodate the added load when the Khaya is loaded (probably near 950 lbs. total gross weight).

These are from a trip down to Eastern Oregon to watch the Eclipse a couple months ago.

We are currently working on a custom dual compressor mount and air up kit (with tank) that we'll be announcing around the beginning of the year...

I've been waiting for that Khaya to arrive. Any chance of a tour? :D

Definitely will do. It should be up and on the truck next week!

I'd love to swing by and take a look in person. Maybe in January after the holiday craze. Do you think it could sleep four? Or is that pushing the limits too much?

Probably not, unfortunately. There just isn't the room. We're working on a possible sleeping platform for a third (shorter) person below but it definitely won't fit two. If you're REALLY friendly with two other people you could probably squeeze three medium size adults in the upper sleeping area...

I try to avoid the build thread$ but this update caught my eye. Looking forward to see some practical 3rd gen accessories ... some compact efficient bed storage would be great too. But one comment about putting stuff behind the grill. I considered putting my compressor and/or an air tank in that space, or even just a tool bag; there's so much room and intelligent design shouldn't obstruct airflow. But I'd be concerned about even a minor collision; that's all crush space, and setting aside safety and airbag triggering, I'd hate to poke something through my radiator or A/C condenser and not have it covered by insurance because of a mod.

    Good point,

I remember years ago confirming my insurance wouldn't freak out on me if I put a MOMO steering wheel in a Civic I had.

They were cool with it then,

I love the camper design, hard shell and strong enough to mount a RTT and an awning but the pic with all the doors open it looks like it's not even there...

    SUB'D for sure! :benchpress:

I meant that if the equipment mounted behind the grill caused more damage to the radiator or A/C than if it was just crush space, insurance might not be happy.

    I heard ya man,

I wanted my insurance to cover me for removing my airbag... JIC something happened and the airbag would have helped me.

I'm sure if I did that today and tried to claim damages to self they would laugh and say Nay Nay... You messed with a Federal Mandated System, yada yada yada...

@Adventure Ready By any chance, will you be an exhibitor at the Sportsmen Show in January?

With an aftermarket bumper on there there would be a lot more to worry about than the radiator if it crushed in that far. I hear you though!

    We will indeed!

Awesome - I'm really leaning towards getting one of those campers. I do need to save my pennies though, but definitely will want to see it. Will you have it on display? :D

Any more info on the Khaya? Seems to fit in between the 4 wheel campers and the Go Fast Camper got size and features but pricing is almost the same as the 4wc?

We're working on that right now as a matter of fact. We do have the Khaya here, just needs some modification to fit on our short bed truck (mounts we got were for the long bed). This won't be the case in production models, which are slated to land in March.

Photos and more Khaya info due imminently!
