Hey guys. So I bought this 2012 tacoma about 3 months ago it has just about 67k miles on it. Yesterday I while washing it I noticed a little peel on the front driver side fender but figured it wasn’t to bad. Later on I was plasti dipping the emblems and while peeing off the dip above the driver side tacoma emblem I noticed lots of peeling around the emblem. I followed all the steps of how to properly plasti dip emblems and made sure the area was clean before dipping them. Just wanted to see if someone could give me some advice!! Thanks a ton! 11FBD8BB-D703-429F-9325-0D087893E2BC.jpg F8F11D0E-955A-429B-8D1B-7F4A61A7A7C8.jpg 302E61EF-B116-463A-A809-2E7DA21445C0.jpg

    Overfenders?

Looks like a slop job. Didn’t remove badges. Probably a quick spray with no prep.

I went and looked back at it after the first two responses. I think the fender is a repaint chip but near the badging the chipping/peeling seems to be clear coat. I bought the truck out of state and mechanically its great! But the paint was not so much. I got it with bad swirl marks and holograms so It really wouldn't surprise me if the repaint was a shit job.

Bring it to a body shop or even any good dealer. They will put a paint meter on it and tell you exactly what the deal is.

There is no other solution than a complete replacement with a steel bumper.

Seriously if you don’t want/need an excuse to go with a fab bumper I would go for a repaint of what you go there.

When you bought the truck did you search if the truck had accident repair done? You may be able to figure out what shop did the repair to begin with and they might be willing to warranty it. You never know.

If you get a shop to give you a quote can you let us know the price? I need to get my front bumper redone. Curious on cost.

    .
I did a lot of research on the truck before I bought it. It had a good service record and a completely clean title and no reported accidents. I’m guessing the previous owner scraped the fender and just got it repainted. I’m going to get it looked at some time in the near future. But maybe I could convince my self to just get a steel bumper hehehe.
