    Truck-1:deer-0

Bumper cover and fog light were the only damage. Winch carrier took the brunt of the hit. I fact there is still a nice smudge on it from the deer. I did find out that my sliders double as deer deflectors. The kick out on the passenger slider slung the deer completely off the highway, over a fence and into the field it had just run out of.

On another note I did get some more goodies for the truck.

Recovery boards for those sticky situations.

Renogy 100w solar kit to keep all my electrical stuffs going off grid. Will be mounted on pivots on my roof rack to serve double duty as a wind deflecter over my RTT. Tested the wind deflector theory with a sheet of plexiglass on my last trip out and it helped a lot on my fuel mileage with the tent installed. Panel is hurricane rated so it should take a decent hit from a bird ect.

Picked up some 15w scene lights to replace my 55w LED work lights on my roof rack. Been needing to tone down my side lighting some. The Kaper II lights. Ran across these on some local first response vehicles I did some fab work on and liked them so I bought a set. I’ll let y’all know how they do, may be a good alternative to the expensive Ridgid scene lights.

One of my coworkers was just a little behind me when I hit the deer. he said it looked like a furry boomerang flying out from under the truck.

If he had been in his new truck we would have caught it in cam but he was in his farm truck so no such luck.

They are as nice as is to be expected from OME. This makes I believe pair number 9 that I have owned over the years. I really don’t think any one but Betts Custom Spring in California makes a better spring pack for a Toyota(used to make Marlin Crawlers spring).

Well it was time for an oil change again. Man 15k goes by quickly. I run Royal Purple 15 k with a filter change every 5k just incase y’all were wondering. A2E00C87-A998-4E87-93BC-2DF2E20C2EA1.jpg

While I was filling the crankcase back up with oil(6.2 quarts) the big brown truck showed up. My lift kit is all here now so I may install it tomorrow. If not I’ll have to wait 2 more weeks for another day off that I don’t have plans on.

I was inspecting my leaf springs after they came in and noticed that one of the pads at the tip of one leaf was missing. It actually appeared as though it was never installed or possibly fell out during final assembly. Called Headstrong and Marie gave me a contact number with ARB in a he warranty department and they promptly sent a full leaf spring service kit to me with the correct part in it. Sending out the full service kit for one leaf pack was pretty jam up of them I thought.

Part came in today and took about 2 minutes to put in. Now if I can get my ducks in a row to get this stuff installed.
I am going to have to wait until my son comes in so I can trailer the Tacoma the 55 miles to the only alignment shop I’ll use after install.

    Ok update time....

Got my lift installed last Friday and had the alignment done.

    Starting to disassemble.
    18C68E07-A635-4002-8609-CBAB4A5F3A02.jpg
One corner done. Started to drizzle rain at this point so I just got after it and knocked the lift out.573A81B6-C63B-46FA-8DD0-959784120D10.jpg

At the shop while waiting for alignment I had them rotate the tires.

Picked up some other goodies for my build. Engel UC-19 cooler for quick access to drinks and a Pelican 1750 case that I am going to mount across the bed for recovery gear and spare parts.

    4F5118CE-4C9A-4ADB-A269-59CC97CE7FBD.jpg

I have daily used a UC-19 as a lunch box for over 6 years now and they are tough as hell. The new one should give me several years of service on the truck.
Shout out to my trusty lunch box.FE4EAECA-9AA9-4E3A-AECA-4BF26A44C0FC.jpg

Had to run up to our farm and do some fence repair and cut up some fire wood for the house. The trip gave me a chance to shake down the new suspension and test a couple of my other mods(snorkel and winch). All went well and I am pleased with how the truck performs. Hot tired and nasty after a day in the woods of East Texas.

Might need to get some of the Texas folks together and do a work weekend up at the farm. Trail cutting, fence building, wood cutting, camping, shooting and just general guy stuffs.
