Has anyone here who has installed the 888 coils and 5100 shocks assemble them themselves? And if so how big of a spring compressor did you need for the 888 coils to safely compress them and install on the 5100 shocks.

5100's all around, OME 887 with 1/4" spacer, icon 3 leaf aal. 255/75/17 BFG KM's on 4runner pro's. Rigid led pods. Debadged and tinted.
I assembled 887s on 5100s myself. I used the no spring compressor method. You can find it on here and on YouTube. As long as the jack is properly placed in the LCA, it's the best way without a proper wall mounted compressor. I have a set of compressors I have used 20-30 times before, but truck springs stress me out.

Anyone who runs the 5100s and 888s have to extend the front brake lines?

I have that setup and no, I did not have to use extended brake lines.

Did you have to do anything with the seat bar link when using the 888 coils?

Nice man, I have a lot more miles now on my 888’s and have no complaints and no they are toyo open country at2’s. They seem pretty good for everything but clay.

I'm running 887s without the sway bar and love it. Smoother pulling in and out of parking lots. Just drive it like a truck around high speed curves, and you're good to go!

can someone throw me a bone ?...i currently have Bilsteins and 887's in front. Ordered 888's and that should be easy enough......but the rear ..i have just Bilsteins and a 3 leaf aal. I want a little rake , so i was thinking of getting the B110's and a 1 inch block. What do you think ? Am i going nuts ?

It’s way better except my truck throws traction control all the time which can be annoying.

I’m curious about this because I have 887’s up front too. Does it ever feel sketchy around corners on the highway. I’ve been tossing the idea around for a while of ditching mine.

I have no regrets at all. The stiffer valving of the 5100s doesn't make it feel too floaty. I went in a 1200 Mile road trip over a couple of mountain passes a week after lifting my truck (removed the sway that day) and never once did I wish I had it on. I hung on to it for a few weeks, and decided it is destined for the scrap yard.

Sounds promising for me then. I have the OME NitroChargers, but I believe they should be comparable to the 5100’s. Don’t quote me on that one though.
Do you ever feel like your suspension bumps in the down travel when you hit a steep speed bump. I’ve heard concerns, and mine does slightly, but it’s not anything that seems particularly troublesome to me.

Ya, mine definitely does. I'm actually disappointed with how easy it is to top out the 5100s. The 2nd gen version is supposed to have more available travel than the 3rd gen version. I wish I would've gone with those instead.

Come to think of it, when I was test fitting a wheel the other night, I noticed my UCA contacted the coil spring. Maybe my issue is that I need UCA's with more clearance.

Depending on which nitrochargers you have, I think one version is stiffer, and the softer version is similar to the Bilsteins

I think it was the sport version of the nitrocharger, but it’s definitely a stiffer shock of it can handle the rebound of those springs.

The uppers could be part of the problem if they are limiting downtravel. I installed the Light Racing upper control arms when I lifted mine and like I said, mine is very minimal (only the most sadistic of speed bumps) and doesn’t really seem violent.

Im having a tough time deciding between the 888 and 886 on my OME shocks. Currently have the 887, about to add about 150lbs more weight with bumper and accessory and want to not only keep my current 2" lift but hoping to get closer to 2.5

Anyone try both springs and have any thoughts?
