ToyTec Ultimate lift, FX Pro wheels, 295/70/17 Ridge Grapplers, AFE drop in filter.
My current combo, 17x8 FX Pro wheel with a 295/70/17 Ridge Grappler weights about 90-95 pounds at each corner. A lot of weight to roll around but with the 4.0 and 5 speed auto, it does just fine. I may go with a 4.56 gear in the future but not really in a rush at the moment. I don't think i'd want this combo with the 3.5 and 6 speed auto. Weight is a huge factor with the 3rd gens that's for sure. If only the Tacoma and 4Runner was offered with the V8, that would be huge.

Yeah I'm mostly on road. My off road consists of hauling things around my parents property, getting around friends farms, and the occasional snow. These stock Hankooks are pretty terrible in anything though. 4wd is necessary in places where it should not be. My needs are also why I'm not lifting and getting bigger tires. I don't do any serious off roading, so ground clearance isn't an issue. I'm not one to lift for vanity either.

Honestly in this truck world it's hard to not go mod crazy. There's such a cult following around the Tacomas and the aftermarket is endless. I could definitely get myself in financial trouble with all the options. I have enough money pits and expensive hobbies. Trying to keep the Tacoma stockish

That's why I'm trying to stay away from some other hobbies, because the tacoma is an expensive enough one as it is. I don't need multiple expensive hobbies. My wife would not be thrilled with that one!

So true. I thought the bug was out of my system after I put a lift on. I just recently wore the stock tires out and replaced them with 255/85/16 ST Maxx. What a difference. Now I found out Mobtown is right down the road and I’m thinking about armor. The problem is that I really like the current height and don’t want it to get any lower. First world problems I suppose.

Thanks, I like it more this way for sure.

I did the fishing line method while I was washing it today. With some old ass 8lb test, and by old I'm talking nearly 20 years. Left most of the tape behind. Followed that up with the 20 degree pressure washer nozzle. Then alcohol. The medicinal type.

Maybe it's just me but I think it makes the ass look fatter.

It felt so good to wash the salt off, detail the inside and apply a lot of 303 protectant to the tonneau cover.

    Here are the money shots:

    Big booty is popular though.

Fishing line...brilliant. I had to google that one.

I’m planning on using some of that citrus based solvent. I used it once to get off bumper stickers on a Craigslist flip vehicle with success.
I’m thinking about getting a new grill too. I just don’t like advertising any brand. That and I like the super clean look.

Ray 10’s are looking good, is that the brushed copper or the gold?
I just noticed the salt ate into where my wheel weights were attached previously on my stock alloys and I've decided the gunmetal in that style is my next wheel.

Pro Comp makes a E range 265/70r17 that has a 60k mile warr. The AT Sport.

I'm very happy with the Ridge Grappler in the same size, and it's a E. Each corner is 80 lbs. With the bed full, some cargo in the rear seats, on a trip from Northern Harford County to OC I was able to pull and maintain 22 mpg's. Definitely not the same as heading up to mountains but impressive to say the least. My snow tests on my driveways were 100% successful.

    However -

I may look at something more road friendly next time just to see if I can get higher mpg's more of the time. I average like 17.5 now. Less when those temps drop in the teens.

Maybe that Pro Comp or even the Fallen. The ST Maxx is also a consideration. Maybe even give the Duratracs a second chance.

That looks good on the 3rd gen, but I think a solid billet or honeycomb pattern would suite me best with a 2nd gen.
I started of tonight just wanting sliders. Now I want those, wheels, and a grill. Thanks TacomeWorld. I better log off before someone with a long travel suspension starts posting pics.

Yea, I learned on here about the fishing line. Worked great. I was going to use WD40 for the glue but couldn't find it. The alcohol works.

Yea, I was going to do a plain mesh grill until I saw the devil horns on fire. It was love at first site for me.

Thanks. Yes, Brushed Copper. The Gold is a little to yellow for my taste.

Yea, I've been worried about them with all this salt but I just hit the car wash every chance I get. Today was a special day. Nothing beats a hand wash.

    Thanks

That would work on your new grill too. You might just need some spacers and longer bolts so it sits flush.
