I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma Sr5 And recently I’ve been hearing a sqealing sound. I’ve been trying to figure out where it’s coming from and it sounds like it’s from the engine. A couple days ago, I took my truck off-roading and it did great. Went through mud, sand, and water with no problems. I had been driving for about 10 miles on pavement and heard nothing until I pulled into my neighborhood and heard a loud squeal. When I heard this I came to a stop and it went away. After, I got up to about 20 mph and it started again. Once again I came to a stop and the sound stopped. A couple hours later I took it for a drive to see if it continued, which it did, but it was much quieter and started once I got to 35 mph. I don’t think it’s a belt because it only does it when I get around 30-35 mph. Any thought on what it could be and how I could fix it?

Did you hear it at all speeds or just when you got to a certain speed?

Going to most likely be one of the pulleys on the engine for the serpentine belt.

Probably just the muffler bearing got a little loose or needs to be lubed up. Looks like this download (1).jpg
Or you can just buy a new one

I've been chasing a similar sound and replaced both idler pulleys with no luck. I was debating on trying the tensioner pulley next. I can only hear it if the windows are up and the radio turned off. It's pretty faint sounding and does not get louder with speed. If the truck is under 20 mph nothing, if the truck is still warming up nothing. Then you hear it. This all started after driving down a flooded road here going to help a friend out after hurricane Harvey hit.

Heater/AC Fan bearings ? Pressure in the cab changes with forward speed/wind being forced and compressed in the cab with the windows up. This changes the torque/speed of the fan. Hit the sweet spot - it squeaks. cover the cowl intake, Pull the fuse for the Fan and try it again. Note that you need to pull the fuse as sometimes the fan will not shut off but only stay on low to keep the cab free of CO/CO2. Some Vehicles may do this per my past readings .... not sure if this is true for Tacoma.
