I was getting my safety inspection done through one place and he has gone on vacation until after my 30 day voided inspection runs out. So I am looking for another shop to get my safety inspection done through if anyone has any recommendations on a place to get an inspection near Honolulu. Thank you for the help.

If all your stuff is all good to go, it shouldn’t matter where you go. If you looking for that “other place”, I can’t help you there...

Even if someone does know that “other place”, they should PM you rather than blasting it on here...

I was more looking for any shops that people like to give them the business. Wound up just getting it taken care of at a Firestone.

I used to go to Tandall’s 76 in Waipahu, but they closed down and went to Kailua side.... I would still go there, but the drive just makes me go to a jiffylube....

Took my truck to Firestone. They failed me on wiper blades being too "streaky". I basically had to purchase the wipers from Firestone or come back a different day. I think some shops like to fail on small things to upsell their products.

When I lived in town I went to Hiram Texaco (formerly chevron) https://www.yelp.com/biz/hirams-chevron-honolulu

From my experience anytime you need to leave your car at the shop i.e they won’t do it with you in the vehicle you have a greater chance of failing.

76 stations and gas stations with garages seem to be the best and easiest.

Goodyear / Firestone seem to take the longest and more failure rates for ridiculous reasons (maybe to upsell product).

    Anywhoo...YMMV

Ditto. This shop seemed to let “little” stuff slide. But then again that was before the iPad and now my truck is stock so idk anymore

Man, do shops really fail people for stupid stuff?

I haven't gotten any of my vehicles inspected for the past 6 years cause I'm military (Texas doesn't require you to get inspected if you are out of state, just have to inform them you are military and they'll give you the registration sticker without inspection).

As a follow up to this...

Driving through Kailua the other day the passenger side wiper Firestone installed fell off. Had to pull over on a side street walk back and retrieve it.

    Talk about safety

interesting. I'll admit that I didn't research it before I answered the question and my answer was based off of being denied safety before because my light was on with the reasoning given to me was that it is a federally mandated system required by the government for safety much the same as airbags and safety restraint systems and if those lights are illuminated it means the system isn't working and so it was a no pass. Made sense to me but since you guys brought it up I went and looked and it appears that you guys are right. Federal law says you can't disable the system (specifically the light) but it's alright if it's on saying there is a problem with the system. Sounds about right for government stuff

since around 2005, its a federal mandate for cars to have a TPMS system, though if you change our your tires and don't transfer the sensor, or the battery in the sensors die after 6-7 years, the light will come in, it doesn't mean your car will fail, its just a dummy light that your car doesn't know if your tires are low.

kind of like the blind spot monitor system on cars, having it or not will not make an impact on the cars ability to physically safely drive down the road.

I think shops tagging the stupid stuff are protesting the system
