    Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone here is a member and if so pls let me know if it’s worthwhile? I didn’t see anything mentioning a 2 truck or 2 bike minimum like the other off road areas nearby (can anyone confirm this?). I like to sometimes do light wheeling / Riding solo.

Supposedly some of the tracts back up to AOAA.

$175 per year for a permit (all permits expire on Dec 31’s) and it’s open daily unlike Rausch and AOAA.. And I believe the permit is for the individual and as long as your other vehicles are insured and registered you can ride them there also!

This is a win cuz I’d ride my V-Strom 1k up there when it warms up.

I’m thinking of signing up and heading up there Tomm with the Taco with my buddy as a passenger.

It def. seems more dirt bike oriented but pls let me know if anyone has driven their Taco’s here and your take on the place.

    Thank,

    Matt

-I will get up to Rausch and AOAA and do one of the meet ups eventually but their limited hrs make it tough for me with my schedule and work hrs.

It’s the old “Reading anthracite outdoor area”, they just renamed it I think. I did find some YouTube videos of some jeeps off-road up there and it definitely does say on the website off-road full sized vehicles are allowed.

My other Fav. Forum (ADVRIDER) local pa and vacinity guys hosted a “dirty Santa Off Road” meet last year up there. I couldn’t make it but seems they all had a blast. That is some nasty muck though. Lol.

I would do a day pass, but it seems that they only do season passes. No day passes, well except for passengers... which they charge $30 a day! That does seem high just to ride in the passenger seat!!

I just wish AOAA Was open all week, and there wasn’t that mandatory 2 truck minimum, I would like to go up there and just cruise the greens solo, nothing crazy. But I understand the logic, they don’t want to find a solo rider stuck and or dead days later...

Oh ok. That is good to know, I wasn’t sure if you have to register with the second truck when you drive in. Thanks for the info.

Are they only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday year round or is that only a winter thing?

Most folks I know refer to this as “St. Clair”
Interesting how there’s scattered associated areas.

    This bears looking into.

Yeah it’s up in the St Clair Area, but there are multiple tracts and entry points it seems, like you said scattered about.

Like I mentioned earlier supposedly some of it backs up to AOAA territory.

Do the trails have a lot of overgrown vegetation? My Taco is black and if you look at it wrong the paint scratches. I’m not ready for the tree/shrub pinstripe mod yet.

That’s the truth. There are some state forest and ANF roads that have some off-roading challenges on them and not many pinstriping threats.

Click on the link I posted in the first post. There is a YouTube video that gives a good idea of the area and terrain.

Looks fairly open, especially the atv trails, and not too difficult.

This is an old thread have you guys checked it out? I went one time last year and the trails that we went on were pretty open. I just saw a post on their they are changing their policy, the membership will be good for one calendar year from the date of purchase. I'd like to head out there again and explore more trails. Maybe do some camping out there if they allow it or a nearby camp spot. Not in the winter of course but as soon as spring hits I'd be down for it.
