OK I have read the manual but I still cannot figure out what is on by default, what pressing the button on the overhead does or doesn't do, so I'm asking for some clarification. When i fire up my truck, what traction control mechanisms are engaged. When I press the overhead button, does something come on or off? What about holding it down - same question. So what do all these icons mean?

Sometimes uploading pictures can be a little funky on the forums. It’s easier and more consistent to use an image hosting site and link in for me.

If you have an SR / SR5 / Sport / Limited, it is a lot simpler than the OR / Pro, esp with the MTS, CC, and locker mixed in.

The big deal is that all of us have some stellar capabilities in 2wd, 4Hi, and 4Lo just using the defaults.

So for most driving, even on wet pavement, default is best?

Yes. Just 2wd and no button presses. On bare, wet pavement, you don't want to engage 4wd unless you are going absolutely straight.

If you want to goof off, like doing doughnuts, turning off TRAC and VSC is what you need to do.

Have a look at the spreadsheet for what the button does for your specific model. It is different depending which you have.

If you are in knarly terrain, the TRAC function is pretty epic. There are videos of it's capability here:

2WD - so what do the icons mean - I assume Trac Off means no traction control at all. There are two icons with a swishy tire mark under them - why two and which one means what? And if Auto LSD is on I assume that means it is engaged? Thanx

The spreadsheet in the first post of the sticky thread has details and explanations for the dash lights.

Yes. If you see a light on, that function is engaged / engaging. Auto LSD light means that the system is on. TRAC Off means that the traction control is disabled.

Thanx again - I printed out the spreadsheet but didn't print out the image that has the icon nomenclature.
