    What's up fam?

I'm looking for any suggestion based on your experience what will you get if you go put in a high flow cat on your Taco? Better gas mileage? Gain a little? Will it produce a annoying sound? Because I'm looking to replace my rusty old stock cat it's starting to make some rattle sound. 1996 Tacoma reg cab 3.4 standard trans 5VZ-FE.

In my experience NA likes the back pressure of a cat from any vehicle I messed with in the past. Boost, pretty big benefit. If your current cat is clogged you will notice a slight gain. Mileage is probably negligible difference unless you have a turbo. It will get a bit louder and pop more on decel.

Also another thing, if you change your oem cat to a high flow cat will it produce a deep tone sound if you go put on a MAGNAFLOW cat back exhaust kit?

Makes it overall louder. Hard to explain. Tone stays close to the same with a few more popping hollow exhaust sound.

Even running through Dumont dunes with headers & test pipe which is no cat and borla catback my truck really gets it on and doesnt pop ever, even revving in nuetral. Magnaflow makes a great high flow bolt on for the 5VZ its carb legal but wont pass smog to save youre life. I love high flow cats and test pipes with an o2 simulator, its not mind blowing but anyone can tell the difference between the stock cat, and high flow theres more power for sure.

If its popping youre injectors may be dripping because on deceleration theres more fuel than needed and the pop is the explosion in the pipe from unburned fuel hitting a hot pipe. Trust me Ive tuned Motorsports for years that have made every accessory, this is common knowledge to any tuner worth his salt.

Yes, o2 sim, and the test pipe, Its for offroad use only-the truck was trailered. For carb legal ones I tried running magnaflow and it didnt pass but did give power over the stock cat. Magnaflow might pass the sniffer in another state but not Ca, here the cat is carb legal but I am puzzled as to why. I have a brand new Toyota factory cat and my truck works well, if this 1000 dollar cat goes bad, then I'm gonna try walker cats I've heard good reviews. The factory cat crapped out around 230,000 miles.

Makes no sense... magna should have a class action lawsuit on their hands shouldnt they?

I mean, wont pass in cali.....but....
    California Air Resources Board right?

A new cat regardless will always feel like it added power than a stuffed up old cat i imagine.

How much more did the dyno show?

The hydrocarbons and nox were way too high on their dyno, I bought it from Summit because I trust them I ran it for a couple months before smog and didnt pass and not because of visual. They stood behind that cat as they have 5 year warranty and gave me credit in full for it back, I wish it would pass the sniff, and I'd still run it, it was great. Once I coughed up the dough for the toyota cat I was worried I believed maybe its my motor, but I got great numbers on the leak down and showed the engine was in good health, after putting the new toyota cat on it passed with flying colors. I have single cat with no egr w/jba headers and borla exhuast. I did the elbow mod and the airaid intake tube and everything was all good visually and sniffer.

Did you put in a direct fit high flow cat?
I put in a direct fit flow master cat and now the higher rpms have much less power above 4000 rpms with the supercharger
