there's definitely rust underneath that undercoating....

For this price, I would expect an immaculate frame too

May be low miles, but what about the frame?

The POS soup can Walker exhaust tells you all you need to know about what the frame internals might look like.

In the picture that shows the exhaust, you can see the rust along the bottom of the frame as well as a big spot on the body.

Good catch... that looks pretty bad. If someone has the time/energy/money/equipment to fix the frame and relocate it to Arizona or Texas... far away from the rust... it might be worth it if the price is right.

It looks like someone sprayed some walmart undercoating on the frame and replaced the rusted out exhaust.

Someone, if reserve is met, is going to be sorely disappointed.

Except the price already isn't right. The BIN is $17.5k and that's before it has any further reconditioning. As much as I like first gens that would be a hell of a down payment on a turd gen

Even at the current bid I wouldn't even consider it. There are better values out there.

definitely not worth the asking price and the current bid. Way too much rust for this price.
Even with low mileage and clean body (what's the point of having low mileage or a clean body if frame is in bad shape or so so condition??)
The thing is that these frames rust and rot from the inside out, so what about what we can't see?

definitely, needs a hammer test and if frame is good, maybe $8k-$9k, but not 17k lol.
oh and then you'll need to remove that peeling undercoat if you want to treat the rust and repaint the frame (a peeling undercoat like this is just a rust magnet... and that toyota undercoat was just bullshit to start with...). This would lower the price too, to $6k-$7k for me
and think about seized rusty bolts if you need to change a part.....

mehhh, the trucks is not worth the hassle. Buyer is going to be dissapointed...

You can get clean really rust free southern trucks for these same prices they are bidding and asking

I spend more time underneath and under the hood than on the rest of the vehicle.

And yeah that frame looks about like mine did not long before the rust popped through.

I guess bidders are just looking at the miles. I would think that with 18 years on it the miles would matter less and less.

looking at the pics, you can tell the undercoating was applied right over the rusty frame. Just look at the rear leaf spring mount. completely rusted.

You're going to find higher miles in the south/southwest, but a lot of those are highway miles. I'd take 160,000 miles from AZ over 45,000 miles from NY. As long as the maintenance has been done, you're going to be fine with a few more miles.

Serious question, who would buy a car/truck off of ebay or any other website without first inspecting it or tacking it for a test drive?
