My truck came with an ARE shell, but the front window doesn't slide... Besides directly from ARE, does anyone have any advice on how to find a used window assembly? The part number for a new one is 03651

yup! we are getting a rescue dog in two weeks. I;m sure she will ride in the cap occasionally. It will also be great for transporting fly rods and long materials from HD.

I called a local Cap World, and they will get back to me with a price for a new window from ARE. I will let you know what i find out.

$179 for the sliding window, $250 for the sliding and tilting. $75 for the install. I'm not sure if it is worth the $75. I guess it depends if i can switch out the window without breaking the seal of the shell to the bed. I don't get any water leaking now and want to keep it that way!

I started a thread here to post the new dog and see if anyone had any suggestions for the breed. The rescuers think she is a Dalmation mutt-> https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...lp-iding-the-breed-possible-dalmation.532594/

hmm that's not too bad for a sliding window, I may have to call some local places and get quotes from them. Or buy a cheap cap if one comes up and just swap windows. She's a cuty. You can do DNA testing and they can tell you what she is a mix of. I think it's like 100 bucks or something. Here are our two pups 19029318_10156235452976978_6882668242076_e4212e53e459c76a796e5e2aa22be64fa07614ba.jpg

Awesome! how was their adjustment to your home? I am mostly curious. She is a mutt, so i know that i can't predict mood and temperment. Besides, she has been with my friends and three other dogs and hasn't shown any aggressive behavior yet. I'm not super worried about her having a bit of pit. I am hoping other dog owners might have some input.

oh, and for used, I searched a bunch of online used parts/ recking yards. The few that had are shells weren't interested in parting out the front window.

I can't imagine the ARE window intalls much differently than this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OYCrp_U6m4 . It doesn't look hard, but I'm willing to bet that i would need to loosen the cap and push it back a few inches to get the window in. I will measure next time I head outside ot my truck

Primrose (little black rat terrier mix) is super chill and just wants to cuddle. House training went well with her, and we have had her since she was like four pounds (20ish now). Biscotti (lab retriever mix) was found in the woods with 2 other dogs which unfortunately died. She had a broken leg which was splinted and healed terrible, so the organization we got her from paid to have it re-broken and straightened out with some metal upgrades lol. She never really got to have a puppy life (we think she was abused but they said she was hit by a car) so she's very much still energetic but is pretty good inside the house minus counter surfing. We also can't cut her nails, probably due to the whole broken leg thing. But by all means both are sweethearts and both make us laugh or go awww everyday lol

Good video, I have pulled the frames off the insides of the side windows to replace the window screens, bought mine used.

Holy crap, sounds like your lab mix had it rough but is in a great place now. Lucy was found roaming free in Puerto Rico. For a feral dog, she has done great so far. She got nervous the first time she came to our house when my boys picked up their lacrosse sticks to throw a tennis ball around wiht her. My friend/ Lucy's fosterer thinks she was probably shooed away or whacked with sticks when she was running free.
