Just had an unfortunate experience with @ToyTec Lifts "Lifetime Warranty."

About two years ago, I bought a set of BOSS coilovers, which I've been happy with. They've held weight well - on and off road, and I've recommended them to others here on TW.

A couple weeks ago, when I got bigger tires and just before we headed to Death Valley, I needed to adjust the pre-load (raise up the front) a bit so I got out the spanners that I also got from ToyTec, and proceeded as usual.

This time, one of the pegs broke off the spanner. That was no good, but I was still able to get the collars adjusted for the trip, so I didn't panic. I knew ToyTec had a " " on their Toytec-branded products, so I just figured I'd contact them when I was back.

Well, I contacted them today and heard back pretty quickly (which was great) - they wouldn't warranty the spanners. "They only have a one year warranty."

That didn't make any sense to me - tools aren't a "wearable item" like shocks/coils are - so I gave them a call, and the person I spoke to got couple managers got in the loop. Sure enough, they decided they weren't going to warranty a tool despite the relatively clear wording on their web site to the contrary.

So @ToyTec Lifts - I'd still love to see the right thing happen here - I bought a tool from you guys that (I believe) had a defect - it was used well within it's parameters. Now would be a great time to stand behind that Warranty, IMO.

I've been a supporter to this point, after all.

Im kind of surprised they wouldn't warranty something as relatively inexpensive as a wrench. Hopefully this is resolved.

Seems like they have a trending preference lately.

Got an email from @ToyTec Lifts (David). He was very understanding of the situation and talked me through a bit of the reasoning for not just sending out a new wrench. He also offered to send me a new one if I sent him the broken one (first).

That seemed totally reasonable to me, so I popped it in the mail. Hopefully will have a new wrench in a week or so.

So - in all - everyone I've talked to at Toytec has been very respectful (even when they weren't honoring the Warranty). Glad I was able to get in touch with David who's making sure the right thing is happening for their customers!

Wonderful that this got resolved!!!! But... why does it always take this amount of bad press to get companies to do the right thing. And for what it’s worth that tool is poorly made...

A small handful of select mods.
Every company learns as they grow. I am sure they are working on some internally policy changes regarding this and going forward with have a better response. Keep in mind Toytec Lifts is still a small company with less then 25 total employees. So they live and learn through experience.
