Almost makes me want to put in 30% bigger injectors and run only e85

 

Need somebodys thoughts on this. I recently replaced my cat with a test pipe and have been noticing a burnt oil smell when she idles. (Its cold here so i can see the exhaust smoke a little whenever im not moving) havent seen any blue smoke while driving. I havent taken the downpipe off to look in the
Backside of the turbo yet but the inlet has like dried oil residue that didnt rub off with my fingers, used brake cleaner and it came right off with a rag. A little side to side play on the shaft but no front to back movement. The outlet of the cold side and intake that runs to the intake mani is clean as a whistle. Did a compression test and everything is between 160-180. The truck does have 198k on it . Ive had the turbo on the truck for at least 5k miles. Drives good tho, not sure if i should look into anything else. Oh and bought this the other day

 

Does anyone build a good reputable turbo kit for the 2TR?

 

LC Engineering has one under development @MrCrowntown will be the test mule.

 

Is your turbo clocked as close to 12 and 6 (o’clock) as possible for the oil feed and drain? Do you have a restrictor in your oil feed? (Lack of) Both of those can send oil passed the turbo seals into the exhaust side and/or cold side.

 

could just be standard fumes. my car smells a bit like that too since it doesnt have a cat either but im not noticing any change in oil levels to indicate burning oil (non-turbo)

 

No cat will also mean the oil from the PCV system won't be caught by the cat. There will be a stronger scent because of that as well.

Unless you have a catch can.

This has been on my mind since the day I bought her, and finally talked LCE into doing a kit for me, at the benefit of creating a production kit for themselves. It's been quite the interesting ride, that will be over soon, once I go get it installed for initial road testing

 

Hurry the heck up!!! I may have my own Titanium forge by the time yours is done.

 

Same here man! Hopefully if all goes well, they will produce a kit for an afordable price. I just couldn’t justify the supercharger price on a 4cyl

Exactly why I wanted to approach LCE. It should be comparable to their 3rz kits in cost.

 

I actually haven’t looked into any kits by them , what does the 3RZ kit run?

AEM 50-1200 320lph ok for the 3rz with stock FPR or will it overpower the FPR ?
