No I dont, but that doesn't apply for you because your replacing the spring. ** Note -- the small rope is only to hold the weight of the spring not any part of the tension. It's cool because when you lower the shock the rope tightens up so you don't have to make it real tight to begin with. If the rope ends up super tight like a guitar string then that would be dangerous so don't work on it if that's the case. loosen it up and try again. * Disclaimer - I'm just sharing my experience. In no way am I advocating this is how everyone should do it. Do this at your own risk.

Yep its normal at that lift height. You dont have much droop travel at the top setting. So the shock is topping out over those bumps.

You cant have both maximum lift and max performance. Its a trade off between the two. The 2nd/3rd from the top setting are generally the sweet spot.

I did not have any experience with the 600# springs as I knew I was adding the above and did not want to install the front suspension twice.

Yes, as others have said, the 650# springs are the same length but are stiffer so they will not sag as much under the weight.

Thinking about switching up my 2nd gen coilovers to,6112s. Since 3rd gen oem takeoffs are reported to add 1" lift to 2nd gens I wonder if the 3rd gen specific 6112s might be a better choice to achieve 2.5" -3" since I won't have to compress the spring as much since they are, I suspect, already 1 inch taller than the 2nd gen specific 6112s. My thinking is that by using the highest 5/6? circlip on any bilstien compromises the performance/range. I'm adding the d727xl(sp?) add a leaf the my dakar pack and will have quite a bit of lift in the rear, i dont want too much rake, nor do i I want to max out the adjustment up front. Thoughts?

Why? The valving is identical and the length is .2" shorter and .12" longer.

    B110
    • Extended Length: 27.28"
    • Collapsed Length: 16.34
    The ones I suggested
    • CollapsedLength (in.): 16.14
    • Extended Length (in.): 27.40
    Valving 255/70
Is it the eye to stem adapter that concerns you?

Reason I pointed out this one is Bilstien doesn't appear to make a stem top remote rez rear that matches dakars +leaf, and these are only around 100$ more than the b110, and come with the RR

Yes, it's that the adapter spaces the whole shock down, can't even find the specs on it, so you can add +1" or more to the measurements. The stem mount is not very popular which is why Bilstein doesn't make a whole lot of shocks with that style mount. I looked into all this a while back, but no reason to change what I already have since it works so well for me.

I hear all the concerns, I guess I'm always trying to reinvent the wheel lol, but just briefly researching the adapter shows an Amazon customer using these adapters, on a tacoma, with this very shock. Just seems like an inexpensive remote rez shock that matches the dakar+leaf setup, even with adapter within a fraction of an inch of your measurements and with the same, 255/70 valving. You are correct though, the bumpstops would need to be spaced up at least an inch so maybe these won't work.

FOr what it's worth, only found one customer image of the product and that was on a wrangler JK here

I'm sure the shock is awesome and would work great on the Tacoma, if it were not for the upper mount being a 5/8 inch Eye. For that reason you have to rule it out, because with that adapter mount, you'd be sacrificing up-travel, and not gaining any droop, which makes no sense. It would be a performance hindrance, self crippling, truck building mistake. Just my opinion. :D

Another option which makes a lot more sense, would be to cut off the stock shock mount and have a welder fabricate an eye mount similar to the BAMF ones. Then you could run that shock and any other eye-mount one.

OKay, enough thread derailment by me.

On those 6112's... Love them. Love them so much! :)

Technically, while you don't gain droop travel, your maximum droop is lower (farther away from the frame) since the upper shock mount is also lower. ;)

Leaf springs generally, but not always, limit droop.

True. But I was only talking about shock travel.

So I have the 6112/5160 set up... no extra weight EXCEPT I am having a TJM RockCrawler bumper put on which weighs 130lbs. I am pretty sure I have the standard 600lb spring. . do you think i will need to upgrade to a 650 or 700lb spring to avoid Sagging?

Look at my post #1055. 650 spring especially if you have a winch and bumper. 700 is way to stiff from what I researched.

Like @oscolivar1 said above. The 650 should handle it. Are you adding a winch to it as well? Some do recommend the 700 coils for steel bumpers and winches. You could get a slightly longer 650 coil that should prevent it from being to stiff

Eventually I will add a winch, I wish I would have known about the option for a heavier spring when I had the 6112s installed. :angrygirl:
