Hope they gave you a FREE loaner truck or car while they have yours. Depending on your state, I think if it goes in 3 times for same problem it would fall under the lemon law. If you just go and trade on your own you will probably lose 20%, so don't do that. You should feel great with the BIG warranty bumper to bumper!

Ah ha! I have been trying to get someone to tell me what the hell that was! It freaked me out the first few times, but I figured it was a pressureized fuel line or something, dealership didn’t know what I was talking about. Thanks!!

So that's how we are going to measure Toyota quality? Your bad experience doesn't mean that Toyota has a reliability problem. In words you may understand, fake news.

Better than the butt plug sticker they gave you when you bought a Colorado.

Seriously though I sold a Dodge Dakota in 2011 because it was junk and I don't remain in Dodge forums because I'm not a friggin spaz.

If it makes you feel better...a situation like this is why I'm driving a 2018 Tacoma. Long story but I bought a 2018 Chevy ZR2 back in November (yes, this trucks suspension is far superior to my Tacoma with King's) and the freaking thing had something going on in the rear end. Sounded like a combination of six spray paint cans strapped to the axle...with a bowling ball "thud" thrown in when taking off from a stop. Had it in service bay 4x for the same issue, 4th x GM came back and said "we are aware of this issue in other ZR2's but we don't have a fix...sooooo it's a normal characteristic of the truck. Anyway, traded it off...and will never buy another GM product again. "Luckily" my Tacoma has been quiet as a mouse...even with the King's installed with a minimal lift in the front. I sympathize buddy! That ZR2 was a bad ass truck but it caused me great pain and borderline insanity!

    This is fun, lol...:boink:

I bought my 2013 with around 25k on the odometer, now sittin around 85k. It had something like 4 or 5 owners before me, each had it about an equal amount of time, so i was a little freaked out by that. But, i got a good deal on it. Two of the owners were local, so i asked around and found someone that knew them, small town. Anyway, turns out they hated driving a stick, which is why i wanted it, lol. The other two may have had issues, or maybe they all did, who knows. Only "real" issue i have had was the needle bearing that was replaced with tsb bearing. Other small things, but still best veh i have owned, even with the small annoyances. Rattles, wind noise, and such. But its a truck and pretty much all my trucks have had little things like this and i expected to have these things.

I've always felt better about buying a vehicle late in its life cylce, not saying thats what any of you should do. I'm sure there are plenty (majority) of people that never have issues with early gen vehicles, so please don't burn me, lol. :bananadead:

OP, if it was me, i would drive the shit out of it, knowing you have that sweet warranty:rofl:. If it keeps giving you issues, trade that biatch in for something else. If not, keep it, and i bet you will like it. Tacoma's hold their value better than anything, other than Wranglers, lol. I've owned a couple of those too and knew going in, i would spend quite a bit of time under them. Way way more than my Tacoma, but still loved them none the less. One day i'll get a beater one again to have on the side, lol.

I have kinda the same situation. My wife drives a newer Ford Explorer and we had it in 3 times for leaky transfer case. Well, its not a transfer case, whatever they call them in all-wheel drives. After doing some research, turns out they sourced it out of the Fusion. So it was really not up to snuff for a heavier crossover. To make matters worse, it was sealed, so no way to add fluid back, when it shat it all out on the floor, lol. After the 3d trip, they finally replaced it. Initially we were going to trade it in after that, but its been 30k more miles and not a peep from it and that was some major work. Its been a fine vehicle, otherwise.

So it may work out for ya, and again if not, trade that puppy in. lol
Hell if that warranty transfers, i may buy it off ya and drive the shit out of it, lol:burnrubber:

i have a similar story as you I bought my truck 2nd hand with 49k on the ODO, was a commercially used vehicle and was a repossessed auction sale I bought thru a Toyota dealership with a Certified Toyota warranty. I had a Catalytic convertor replaced was under recall and a front strut had a leak and replaced under warranty, and that was all the issues with the truck it has 85k miles now also and runs like a champ. I see so many 3rd GEN owners complaining about little issues that are getting fixed under warranty and start bitching threads for no reason other than to complain about quality and they get a free platinum warranty from Toyota and loaners to boot, its ridiculus to complain about this, these are the most reliable trucks on the road just because of a minor issue that has been fixed for free is no reason to question the vehicles long term durability.

There is always one off stuff. I almost swore off Toyota too, but they made it right for me. I had a TC once (2nd car, dont laugh) i bought new to commute in. Gas was $4.50 then. I was a stick shift and liked driving it on my 80 mile round trip commute. About a year and a half in, the front glass on the glass top exploded going down the road. Sounded like a damn gunshot goin off in the cab, i bout put it in the ditch. Nobody around me to sling a rock. Had something to do with riding with window cracked and reverberations or something. After some back and forth with dealer, no cussing or anything, toyota agreed to pay half and the freakin dealer paid for the other half. I was freakin amazed. I wasnt in bumper to bumper anymore either. They had to replace the whole damn roof assembly.

Maybe they did it cause it was some freak deal and i bought it new from them. But that impressed me to say the least. Saved me a several grand and they didnt even have to do it. So i'm kinda partial now, lol. Guess it all depends on whether your dealer will go to bat for you. Mine did. Luckily that piece of glass was glued to that front portion, so it was all pretty much there. Just like a million tiny pieces glued to it. They combed over that crap for hours looking for any rock impact and then did some research and saw it was actually a thing that happened elsewhere.

Anyway, traded it in for my used Tacoma when gas dropped and sold my other truck, lol. I also sold the Wrangler, which i regret to this day, to help offset the cost. :annoyed:

This whole threads reads like a Subaru forum lol.

You people must have really boring lives that a warranty issue on your brand new truck is enough to ruin your week, even your day lol. You realize how lucky you are to even be in a position to buy a $40k truck?? And you let a warranty problem thats getting fixed for free get you all worked up and upset?? You literally needed to "calm down" holy shit, bro its a fucking truck you're acting like someone just killed your dog!

Its as big a deal as you make of it OP. You need to like meditate or practice mindfulness or something, maybe some yoga or even just start your day with a little gratitude mantra :)

    *hug* it'll be ok I promise :)
